TPMS needed for DE wheel set?
Purchasing a second set of wheels/tires exclusively for HPDE events. Do I need to have TPMS units installed? This is a 2012 Cayman R. Will there be any downside to not having them other than a warning light(?) or will it perhaps effect other systems? I am accustomed to checking my tire pressures manually before/after events.

I think your question is will lack of a tire pressure signal mess up the ECU, leading to some performance degrading intervention.
While I wouldn't think so, I also think the forum for newer cars is more apt to have readers who have a better understanding of the details there than here. Most racers know that tranny overheating leading to limp mode is an issue with these Caymans even if, like me, they don't own one, but maybe not a lot more? |
