Picts From the CA Speedway HSR West Event
Here's some snapshots from my Racecam of the start of the Porsche 2L trophy race Sunday. I started 15th and finished 12th or so. Much easier than racing in Tijuana......

John, It was fun watching you guys run. Didnt get a chance to meet you in person but my son was pulling for your car (6-1/2 he picks them by color).
Thanks for the in car pictures. Question for you, Jim and JP if he reads this. How was it coming into to turn 3 with traffic. When we did parade laps at lunch it looked like it could get pretty tight down there. If a remember correctly, Mike had some fun in that corner a few weekends ago. TURN 3 (right?)

Don't tell Mike G, but I usually give up that turn...the old "a race is never won in the first turn" mentality. Besides, if you pile-out in turn 3, you can't do this:

Actually Alan Johnson gave a track briefing the first year of the California Festival of Speed and he called T-3 his give away turn as well. I guess his theory is every track has a turn to give up. Nice pics guys, thanks for sharing. John Rogers really get has some nice quality captures. The tan 356 was pretty fast too. Is that red spec JP going to the front? Thats a slick looking light wieght plexi roof insert John. The 2002 is really pushing it. Jim's monster 911 has got the guy looking in the mirrors too much. You should see the chop JP has on tape, blue 914 same turn chops him at the apex of T-4 (didnt see JP? but just passed him in the braking area for T-3), tracks out from T-4 two wheels off and spins across the track in front of him! ![]()

Thanks guys. The Blue 914 wacked the wall on Saturday's prectice race as he has the need to win really bad?! I'd personally rather race some guys and get some good video footage for my quickly advancing old age! The video system is one of the RaceCam systems and so far is about the best next to the systems used in F1 and NASCAR. The guys with the BMW were parked next to me in the garage and I have never seen people work so hard between heats although they were running in two goups. All I had to do was clean the car, add gas, check the tires and oil! Ah, Porsches.

One of the Alfa guys was looking for a head gasket too. That can't be fun on a Saturday afternoon at the track. I enjoyed seeing the Alfa, 510s and 2002 race cars.
The race cam is on my list. Do you use a Digital 8 recorder with that? Do you have a hard wired remote on off switch for the recorder? |

Nice pix guys! John- why is there no tires floating around? Doh- that was TJ, not Ca speedway! Are you planning on Tecate in August? The concrete sections of that course are super slick!

There were no tires flying around, but some cones did fly and a section of rumble strip ended up in the middle of one of the corners!! The RaceCam does come with a hardwired remote that turns the system on/off and start/stops the recorder. If you get one, get the stereo input option, hardwired remote, optional battery and adapter and the S-Video connector for the camera as the picture will be better. The system comes with the Sony GV-D800 recorder and it has a very nice screen so you can watch right after a race if you wish. I did this in Tijuana and the other racers had never seen an in-car system. Yes, I plan to go to Tecate unless it is too hot, much over 90 or so and then I'll stay home although by then we should be used to warm weather? So far slick tracks have not been too much of a problem as the Good year slicks seem to grip well.
