In car camera question

What kind of software do I need to get the video from my digital video camcorder onto my computer? I've got the cable and I can watch the video on my computer when it's hooked up, but I don't know how to save the video onto the computer. Is there any free software I can download? Thanks for the help!

Microsoft Movie Maker is free and has basic download and editing capabilities...

I like Scenalyser Live but it's $40 to register. http://www.scenalyzer.com/main.html
It will separate your video into different files based on the power cycle and time differences on your camcorder.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give them a try and see how things turn out.

the trouble with moviemaker is that you can't burn it to a DVD with it. I like a program called NeoDVD that does everything

I use studio 8 from pinnicle (sp). Couple hundred bucks, but has cool effects, can burn to DVD, can turn into AVI and WMV files. They also give you 10 MB storage to upload your vids to. Easy drag and drop.
