I'd be very surprised if there was a 917 unaccounted for.

4 lug wheels suggests that your looking at a VW chassis with a body kit.

Projects like this one could cost huge sums to finish nicely but if you like it, go for it.
Remeber, that this car could be $10,000 away from being a $5000 car.

Hawkney911 10-22-2006 10:34 PM

oh well it was exciting while it lasted i think id rather drop the 10 grand into a nother 911 thanks for the help guys

1978targasc 10-23-2006 04:59 AM

Better luck next time Hawkney...

Dave at Pelican Parts 10-23-2006 07:08 AM

It's a Laser kit-car. I've seen a few, and pictures of a few more. A 917-esque body on a Bug floorpan and mechanicals.

Good thing it's not real. A proper engine would have set you back about $400,000 !

jaydubya 10-23-2006 03:42 PM

My girlfriend, who was looking over my shoulder while I looked a the photos that were just posted, said, "Is that kit car??"

Keep in mind she knows nothing about cars http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

Hawkney911 10-23-2006 06:46 PM

i didnt have photos when i posted

cstreit 10-23-2006 08:26 PM

I don't know about you guys, but even though I assumed after reading his first post that it was a Lazer kit, there was a teeny-tiny little part of me that said "Damn, what if there really is some "in the barn 917" that no one knows about for some ridiculous price and IT'S NOT ME finding it."
