Pelican poll, I am considering Momo Start competition seats for my 911SC (an upgrade). Has anyone tried them? What are the Pros and Cons, etc. All feedback appreciated.

Well, if I wasn't 2500 miles from home, I could post some pics for you. I just installed mine this week. I used two flat 3 in" wide steel plates from Sears across the stock seat mount in the car. I bolted these to the car, marked holes for the seat, and mounted with washers between seat and plates.
I didn't buy it because it's a great seat (I had a MOMO 1000 Lakes in my last race car that was pretty nice). I bought because it's cheap, FIA rated (didn't want a back brace, and no I don't want to debate this), fiberglass and bottom mount (I already had the plates made from another seat). I plan to use it for a couple years, then move it to the passenger side and get a better, HANS driver's seat. Pros: light, cheap, easy to install, passes FIA tech specs for racing. Cons: kind of roomy for a 32" waist, flimsy, no side mount for flexible install. David

How much time do you plan to spend in the seat? Track days and short trips are fine, but plan on being very uncomfortable on a drive over 2 hours.
I have a pair in my car, used 95% for DE and am happy with them. I trailer to/from so I don't have to endure any long road trips. If you use for street, then you'll need a properly constructed seat bracket that has the seat belt mount to attach the receiver. I got mine at Wedge Engineering.

Thanks guys, sounds like this seat is a poor choice for my application. My dilemma is finding a lighweight comfortable seat with FIA approval.

FYI, I've driven my car with the Start seat for a few days around town, and it's pretty uncomfortable. Nothing like my 1000 lakes seat, which I could sleep in. David

I can't say I've driven my Momo start seat around town, but I have driven it for 3 hours on track, and never had a issue with comfort....
And I fall asleep in it on grid regularly ![]() If the mounting is an issue, the next model up is a side mount...for $130 more, still not bad.

I have Corbeau FX1 and FX1 pro seats - $279 per. I'm not sure if they are FIA approved though. They compare favorably with Sparco but are slightly more flexible. I have mine installed with
Brey-Krause side brackets.

Hey Targa I tried the FX-1's but they completely filled up the car so I went to the GTA's. I may switch to the Corbeau Forza since I already have the brackets mounted sub-surface.
