Stay Puff get some track shoes!
Thanks to a fellow Pelican I was able to purchase some Phonedials with Victor racers ready to go. The tires have a few good DE days left in them for sure. The real reason for the purchase was for a set of wheels that I could play with in regards to tire size. These came with 225/50 on the rear and 205/50 up front. I have been running 205/60 street tires so I expect these to have better turn in and less side wall flex. A short run thru some local twisty's comfirm this but I feel a track day will be in order real soon. The engine seems to spool up quicker also do to the shorter diameter in the rear over the 205/60. They may not look pretty but for less then $400 delivered to my work I feel it was worth the risk to see if they pan out.
Some pics So, whatcha think?

I think it's time to black them out.
Get them powder coated in super glossy ultra black. That way they won't look like phone dials. Or in other words, sneakers with a Tuxedo. Hopefully the Victo's aren't heat cycled out. If they are still good, you're going to have to get used to less braking for the corners, and carrying more speed through them. Fun times ahead!

Hi Dan,
They look good on the car even for street use! The silver compliments the silver Targa bar and chrome trim. Looks better on your white car then they did on my red one. Have fun!!

Tony, Thanks again for the deal. They dont look to bad and will be fine for track use. After I burn thru these tires I might PC them flat black or flat silver. But for now she is no prom queen. Todd, Hopefully I will see you at one of the later POC events this year. I am trying to schedule the last of the STS events.

I agree with Joe and Tyson (normally I like to disagree with them just for the sake of pissing them off, etc but here I am going against my normal approach of being a d*ck and agreeing) black them out! ;-) but hey when you are driving on the track, who cares if your wheels are perfect, just as long as the rubber is good. nice purchase

Im just used to seeing Staff Puff without Fuchs. I guess they are ok for track wheels. I guess it will be less wear on the nice street wheels and tires you have.

You beat me to those, Dan. Just knowing their purpose makes them look better. After missing out on those, I found my first set of track wheels/tires from another Pelican and am awaiting delivery.
Have fun!

Hey Dan cool rims.
Last couple of years the 944 spec racers have been hording those rims. The phone dials had a little better caliper clearance (less spacer required) compared to the Cookie cutters. My 15" Phone dials and CC rims with 23x9 cantilever slicks made the car feel like a go kart. Used the slicks were only $80 each. Not sure if they would fit your rear fenders and you would want to install them at the track... Thanks again for the posters too! ![]()

I agree on the black thing. You can just rattle can 'em gloss black for now. What matters is the rubber, not the wheels.

Those tires are probably worth up to 3 seconds faster a lap. Have fun.
