We are about two hours south of you and have one of the finest autocross locations around at Milton Frank stadium. There are two groups here that autocross. Both SCCA and TAC have mostly the same guys that compete. There are several nationally ranked folks that are regulars here.
Here are the club sites. http://teamtac.org/ http://www.tvrscca.org/ Closer to your neighborhood is the Tennessee SCCA region. Some of the locals attend the autocrosses up there and enjoy it. Midsouth Region PCA (Memphis) has one a month May to September. Don't know what the schedule for next year will be yet.

I only make it to a few a year nowdays. If you decide to head this way let me know and I'll try to up my priority. I have yet to make it to Memphis, but I hear it's fun.
