Anyone use DaVid???

...along w/ the Aim Dash? I'm so F'in fed up w/ breaking camcorders in my car...looking for an all in 1 does it all whiz bang video recording. Orrrr...does anyone use the RaceCam setup? I like mini DV for the quality...i don't like bullet cams cuz they don't have an auto iris and racing into the afternoon sun bleaches everything all out for 1/2 the track. Tell me/show me what you got and maybe some video links. Xmas is right around the corner and I need to buy something for myself ;). Thx for the help. Jim

Jim: Not the answer you wanted, but I use a Chasecam with 1 or 2 bullet cameras. Video examples are here

We were looking at the chase-cam setup, but one thing I didn't like was that it didn't appear to have a preview/viewing window. How do you setup the aim of your camera with it?

I've bought and sold Chasecam...you preview thru the camcorder (attached to the DVR unit to setup). My problem was that the flash cards would continually screw up. Chase cam told me to re-format...it got to the point where I'd re-format after every session and even then it'd still jump. The audio would run in real time, but I'l lose 2-3 seconds 4 or 5x a lap.

I got one of the first PDRs made and it's had a couple problems that needed to be fixed, but nothing like your issues Jim. Bummer. I've always used SanDisk 80x or faster 4 Gb cards. I now have a 12 Gb one too.

I simply take the feed from the SS1000 and plug it into a cheap display ($70) to get the camera aimed. I don't change the aim much, so it isn't much of an issue.

Any reason I shouldn't buy the chasecam bullt cam and plug it into a commercially available DVR with preview screen and recording capability?

Mine worked great for a couple months...then tanked. BUT...so have all the other contraptions I've put in there. Last one would shut off on the warm up lap getting heat in the tires...was too much shock for it:mad:
