1973.5 Gemini Blue Coupe & 72 3.6 Met Blue
Some of you guys might remember me advertising my car for sale about two months ago....
It is a 1973 CA 911t in Gemini Blue, non sunroof. It is 90-95% restored w/ steel front "S" spoiler, newly painted fuchs, new tires, new H4's. 96,xxx original miles, COA, optima one battery conversion... Needs interior finishing here and there, otherwise nice RUST FREE CA car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110864422.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110864460.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110864689.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110864742.jpg I had a lot of interest in the car - unfortunately mostly from car flippers - and I DO mean to offend btw. I came to 5 minutes of selling the car to an individual when I learned he was flipping it to Europe - It would not have been a big deal except he chewed me down on the price for weeks - then he wants to flip it?! Aside form that there were other shaky aspects of the deal w/ this hoser that became evident on sale day. So what's the point of this post? Beats me. I am starting to feel that these original examples (non-modified) are becoming rarer by the day - I hate losing them to the bad US dollar. AND me don't likey flippers! Is the car still for sale? Bah - only for what it's worth :) |
I like your post. Good luck with it.
|
Thanks..... really, I like your support - you seem to understand hehehe
I have my finger on the trigger waiting for some fall-out from the flippers on this board. :) |
I actually don't have a huge problem with flipping stuff...but I guess it depends how you define "flipping". If you get a good deal and sell later, for more, I don't mind.
I do get annoyed with people really ripping on price, shipping great early 911s to Europe, and parting decent or restorable cars out. Means my next 911 will be that much harder to find and that much more expensive... But, what I really liked was the general attitude of your post. You don't sound like a wheeler-dealer in-your-face as$, but your post is in-your-face and somewhat provocative. Let this pretty 73 stay in the U.S. and be well cared for. Please. |
"Just Say No" to those cogsuckers. :)
Or at least charge them double. Get in on their action, it's only fair. |
Flippers are buying up all the nice cars and honest enthusiast and buyers like myself who are in the market cannot find anymore. How much are you asking for this car?
|
The market is about supply and demand, pure and simple. A single individual buyer does not influence the market. I someone advertises a 911 below market prices it will sell very quickly. People that own these cars should be aware that the values of these early are rising rapidly. These cars are worth what ever some else is willing to pay for them.

Russian, can you post pics of the interior and engine? Guys, this looks like a great car, but is missing some visual element. Any ideas?

I can post pics of the interior np The "FLIPPERS" I am talking about pretend to want the car for themselves and low ball you to death. Their most appauling endearment is their GREED. What so bad about: "Hey I got a buyer willing to pay XXXXX in Germany, I'll buy the car from you for XXXXX and I wil be making a 1k-$2k profit after exporting it..." 90% of the people that called me wanted to flip it!! How can one justify convincing me that my car is worth $10-$12 grand - when they are going to wax it and try and sell it for $20k locally and even more abroad ? ? ? ! ! ! It doesn't sit well with me. I should care less where my car goes BUT it's nice when something you cared for goes to a similar owner etc.... I'll get some more recent pics soon. Thanks! Here's something that will blow your mind: If a genuinly nice porsche lover comes and talks porsche with me for a while and I can tell he is similar to me and genuinly a nice guy who loves p-cars - he knows their history, has owned a few or always wanted one, his eyes bug out at my car and the other ones in my collection.... .... heck I'd sell it to him for less - yeah that makes me stupid, but $1-$2k ain't gonna make or break me ya know? And this kid is gonna be so happy driving off in my ex-car - I love it! It's not all about $$$ Bah - said too much :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110902089.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110902124.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110902153.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110902187.jpg 3.6 72T http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110902315.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110902457.jpg PS My VERY sorted 1972 95 993 3.6 is also for sale for an "if you have to ask" price :) Seriously it is for sale - and honestly I'd rather keep my un-modified 73 and sell my 72 AND I LOVE that 3.6 it is unreal at 270hp and 2,100#'s I have given joy rides to countless amounts of local people - OMG is it funny. Peace. |
PS the 73 is in California near Riverside
The 72 3.6 is in Washington state Both cars still have cali plates and the 72 has the blue plates and history dating back to the 1k service at Rusnak Porsche! |

I sold it to her for $3100. That's all she had, and she paid in cash. I guess the PO did me a nice favor too, but not that nice. Money isn't everything. I gave that up for my 69 912 which still isn't on the road. Pined for a 72 or 73 for the last couple of years. Have read up to my eyeballs about these cars. My wife has heard too much about these cars. Still, I cannot find the car I want. Flippers is one reason. Oh well, I understand where you're coming from. It's good to know that some of us want to keep it in the hands of enthusiasts. If I ever own a 72 or 73, I'll drive it every dry day of the year. Oh, and wax it every other day. |
You have a pm waiting for you.
Thanks |
I have to ask! It looks incredible('72)

> I'm sure the 72 is a real zipper it is a '95 3.6 with unichip with 270hp and 250 torque at the wheels on Carb connection's dyno. > it have a G50 trany rebuilt 915 with a Wevo shifter.. like most of the 3.6 conversions to use a Sachs power clutch > has the brakes been updated ? Yes, Brembo GPs (bigger than 930s) with a bias valve in the cabin 8 and 9 fuchs >How about the suspension upgraded? Sanders hollow T bars 22/30s, Smart sway bars, Elelphant monoballs, or poly bronze all around plus spring plate bushings Bilstien struts and sport shocks. |

Beautiful car, I've always liked gemini blue on a early 911. You don't see many of them around. It's interesting that Pelican doesn't require a price to be listed in forsale posts... Back to lurking.... http://john-perry.com/myicons/ninja.gif |
Thanks greenmonster - you have summed it up beautifully indeed!
What Dane posted is the tip of the iceberg of what I have in that monster 72. And no kidding - it is the most fun I have ever had - there is something special about that car and that motor - it is just weird fast! I can post the speeding ticket I got today - dammit, POS, piss I have received numerous friendly emails inquiring about these cars - I APPRECIATE THAT VERY MUCH - thank you. Some answers: 1) Trades - hmmm maybe - I'd consider (for the 3.6) an original early 72-73 T,E, or S OR you'll love this: my cash and your Lotus Elise :) But who am I kidding - I have no cash :( 2) On the 73.5 - what can I say? I tried the list a price and get soaked by low-ball offers style. I say make an offer - you know - offer what you think it's worth TO YOU - that simple. I prefer that one come look at the car and say " Hmm I'd pay _____ for that" - "further more I know I am paying on the high side but WTF it's what I want and I do not plan on selling it" By now some of you are getting annoyed by the no price scenario but gimme a break - maybe 5% of the potential buyers actually have the cash and are serious - the rest are: 1) Flippers 2) Tire Kickers 3) Dreamers - I don't mind dreamers - I am one too :) but I can't sell for monopoly money :) I will work on responding to emails and hammer down a price for you guys..np Like i have said before, I'd rather sell the modified 72 3.6 AND I LOVE THAT car! My current fiscal situation merits the sale of these cars - If this were not the case I WOULD NEVER SELL EITHER ONE. I have a 72E targa #800 of 861 GULF Beautiful Blue in the collection that I currently refuse to sell - very weird because I used to not like targa's very much and HATED gulf blue - How weird is that.?? 4|3X |
Here's another jab at my beloved flipper friends:
The following is a parody of a flipper add for a 1973.5 911T Enjoy: Ah the famous Porsche name that has been on your mind since you were that little boy (or girl, or hermaphrodite) and you saw one parked by the ocean. Well here it is - in all it's glory. 1973 was a great year for cars and a special year for Porsche. It was the last year of the hoodus longus - also known as the long hoods. This 1973.5 is an extra special model being the first to have the bullit proof Bosch CIS injection. Forget the finiky mechanical fuel injected and weber cars of the past... This car was built to last and here we have a fine California example in all of it's glory. VIN 9113102697 in the rare Gemini Blue color - a color so beautiful that you will not be able to take your eyes off it..... Let's look it over... it's smooth classic lines that could have inspired Van Gogh - it's paint is smooth like your granmas silk bloomers. Forget the ugly post 1973 cars that resemble a platypus - this is the one you want - porsche perfection! Open and shut the door and remember the sound of a perfectly closing microwave oven - clunk - perfect. Now we peek inside - like stepping back in time but first that , that smell that slaps you in the face as if you were on your first date rape.... yes it's 30 year old leather and provenence taking you back to the disco days. Sit down and you're instantly back on that couch you watched countless hours of the "real world" on MTV... Stare at the gauges that stare back at you like some forgotten child at the park. Shall we turn the key? No, no we can't - but we must, yes.... here you go varoom the well tuned flat six hums like dental drill.... do we dare drive it??? We must... It floats down the highway like a well lubricated fiber fed diet - wonderfull.... You may now beg me to buy this car and I will even throw in a free toaster. Ok so I might just have too much time on my hands :) heheheheheheheh |
So what is the car worth, since you have so much time on your hands?
Michael |
Alex, I may be able to help with that ticket, let's talk. ;)
|
Hey! I copy writted that ad dude! Stop eyeing it dangit!!!!!!!
As far as the question goes - I beleive you are one of the experts on this board......... The car is cheap right now, but once I steam clean the engine and rattle can the car with a fresh coat - I'm gonna ask a premium! |
