Melted Ignition coil 04 Cayenne
I recently bought an 04 Cayenne with a bad misfire. I replaced all coils and plugs with Beru coils and NGK plugs. While replacing the coils I noticed #6 was a bit melted.
Test drive about 30 miles, everything fine. Let the car sit an hour, start it up and it is misfiring again....get home and #6 coil has melted! Swap #6 coil again the next day to diagnose.....and the thing runs fine. Drive about 20 miles, no problems. I let the car sit about 3 hours then go for a drive. Less than 1 mile away from home the #6 coil absolutely disintegrates. Besides the obvious misfire codes, the prevalent code is P0356. I assume this thing is getting way too much voltage....but sometimes..?? Help? |
