2006 Cayanne turbo S
2006 Cayanne turbo S
Hello my name is Terry I am very new at all of this and this is my first post and I am running into trouble finding out information on my turbo S the modification I am trying to do requires me to downsize the brake calipers from the red factory recommended calipers o to the silver edition so I can reduce the circumference, So with the modified tracks that I have already So with the modified tracks that I have manufactured will be able to slide over that complete assembly, The Porsche dealers do not have enough information to tell me that I can put silver calipers on my 2006 Cayanne turbo S they suggested I that I reach out to anybody that may have any information to help me with this situation, They have also told me that the turbo S has 360 millimeter rotors and the regular Cayanne turbo has 350 mm so at that point I already have a problem with my next thought is can I change my rotors to the 350 mm so I can accommodate the silver calipers thank you in advance for anybody that has information on this Terry |

Hello Terry and welcome to the forum! What is the overall modification that you're doing that would require you to downsize the brake rotor/caliper?

Thank you I will try to make this short, it started many years ago with some head injuries and most recent loss of vision in right eye I decided then that it will be better for me to use the Chyanne in a safer environment such as snowmobiling or The Sandune’s and Glamis so I had Mattracks design a set of tracks for this reason, I am now almost back to normal and very excited to use these however after taking the turbo S to the Mattracks facility they discovered that the monster size red calipers were interfering by 1/2”on the front and 1/16” on the rear assemblies and there is no possible alternative to alter the tracks so we have to look at downsizing the circumference the rotor disk with red calipers on it to possibly silver calipers and a Porsche dealership cannot tell me if I can use silver calipers on the turboS however I have some information that the rotor thickness for the turbo S is 360 mils and for a standard turbo it is 350 mils so I am searching for anyone who has knowledge or information to come to a solution that will allow me to use these tracks without having to spend large amounts of money converting hearts over I have photos that show the interference values I will try to attach these however I am brand new at this and learning as we go thanks again for your interest

These photos are hard to see but they illustrate the Calipers interference
![]() ![]() The Mattracks company has been 100% A-1 Company to work with Paul and Jeremy have gone out of their way to help get this project completed, it is time sensitive because we are traveling tomorrow to pick up the tracks at the Mattracks manufacturing plant in Karlstad Minnesota, we had some mechanical problems on our first journey taking it there so for anybody owning a Chyanne and has experienced a center support driveshaft bearing failure I have some very good information on how to repair at aminimal cost, thanks again for anybody having any comments or helpful information |

Awesome!Well, you can't simply go to silver calipers. The 955S has silver cal's but are the same as the red calipers of the turbo. The base model Cayenne used smaller calipers that would allow 17" wheels. (the turbo & S needing 18" minimum) So, perhaps there's your 1/2" Oh, and smaller disk on the base 955 too. I can't imagine that the smaller versions don't bolt on without modification. I'll suggest checking the P/N of the hub. (I doubt it's different Turbo - Base)

Yes...The standard 330 mm version seems the answer.

First off I wanna thank you for all the information you have provided it will definitely help me move forward on this build, we picked up the tracks last night Jeremy from Mattracks had them all loaded and strapped down so I could not see in the hubs, he sent me some photos showing that I may be able to mechanically remove some material off of the hub just enough to clear the calipers this would be a win-win situation keeping everything stock on turbo S and slightly modify the hubs I will definitely keep you guys informed, and photos if you would like thank you again Terry

Here is a thread of going the other way (
https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5667798-How-to-Porsche-Cayenne-VW-Toureg-Audi-Q7-Brembo-brakes Seems informative. Edit, ^maybe not so informative. ^ Anyway, try searching for people going to larger brakes. Certainly someone has done that. My quick search of the parts diagram shows one (common) hub 2 different calipers/disks/dust-plates. As I would expect. I didn't check the rear.
