2004 Porsche Cayenne 4.5 NA cranks but doesn’t start

Hi, I got a 2004 Porsche Cayenne with the 4.5L V8 non turbo and it won’t start. The engine cranked over for a while and nothing, after a few seconds of cranking on the third or fourth try it had a little life in it but still didn’t start. It has a new starter and a new battery so I know neither of those are the issues. I pulled on of the spark plugs and checked if it had spark and it did, I’ll check the rest later today but I believe they all have spark. I checked to see if there was fuel pressure, I don’t have a pressure tester so I just emptied out the fuel rail so their was no pressure then turned it to the run position for a minute then pushed on the valve at the front and it had built up pressure again so I’m assuming it isn’t the pump. Any ideas on what it could be?

It's a complex system of valves and sensors that all need to be 'happy' for fuel to be delivered.

I was surprised, quite a while ago, that this little valve could cause start problems. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cayenne-macan-forum/506799-incorrect-purge-flow-durametric-fault-code.html

Point is that you could likely benefit from getting a fault code reader.

Above member is absolutely correct - a code reader will be really helpful in pinpointing where the issue is coming from. We'd recommend a Durametric tool or a Schwaben tool if you'd like a simplified version. Links below to both - let us know if you have any another questions.

Durametric Diagnostic Tool

Schwaben Scan Tool

Check the fuel pump fuses. If both are good, take one out and try to start it. If no good, put that one back and remove the other and try again.
