Radio Head-unit Issues

For about a week now I have been noticing that when I turn the car on in the morning the radio is not working (Unit comes on) The speaker are not playing. When lunch time comes all is good again...Could the morning dew here in Florida be contributing to this...I mean why wouldn't the radio play in the mornings just like it does in the afternoon...Tried charging the battery all the way up and nothing still won't play in the morning but by lunchtime it is all good again??? Ridiculous Lol!

Nobody??? Ugh! Then I guess its new head unit time...Lol!

Pull the trim ring from around the radio, use a torx tool to unscrew the radio, then pull it out and look for the harness with the two orange "wires." Those are the optical connection to the amplifier.

Unplug them and wipe them off, and plug them back in again.

My hunch is that that is not making a firm connection with the clip into the radio. When things warm up, the plastic gets soft and the optical connectors make their way back in again.

The Amp lives in the right rear corner. (above the rear wheel.)

If it is not kicking on, that would give the same issue.

Yeah so I have an issue like this. 2-3 times a year the stereo seems to not work. ie no sounds. The latest was only the base in the spare tire well would work. This went on for a week. Then it came back... then it went away ... then it came back and I noticed that it would go away after the warning chimes ended (I have a headlight out). So I started testing that and figured out that if I delay my engine start the radio returns to proper working status. Weird right... So what I do now it stick my fob in the socket and wait till the radio comes on. Then start the car. All seems to work out well...

Maybe this is the fix or what ever gremlin is in the car chose to let me believe that...

GL!

I wonder if you have water in your front passenger floorboard that corroded a wire? The radio has a couple ODBII harness connections, so re-seating all of those could be helpful...

Im having same issues on my 06 Cayenne S, but i installed a Dynavin N6 long ago. No sound and it cant find radio stations, also lost some of the control functions. Pulled it all out, harness is fine. Moss works, CAN box is good, pulled the floor carpet and no wires corroded.

The drains are clear, did them not long ago. I do recall seeing some smoke from my engine bay fuse box, below it. I believe there is a gate controller there, I suspect that may be my problem but it’s not easily accessible.

I got a weird error message when I tried to load the CD on my 2010 Cayenne "Disc changer is unlatched". I have no idea what "unlatched" means, I wonder if it has something to do with the connections. PO had the dealer replace the fan blower motor.

hey long nose - i get that same message about the drive being unlatched - i really don't play cds in the car so it hasn't been a issue but was wondering what it meant
