Oh what now?!?
I recently got this warning message on my PCM. . .
![]() After pressing ENTER the PCM initially only displayed the time and temperature. After a while it would show AM and FM stations but no sound and pressing SAT or CD gave me a “Not operating/installed message.” Stopped the engine. Waited 1/2 hour, restarted engine and all seems to be working well again. I was in Palm Desert at the time, outside temp 110 degrees F. I drove home and the temp cooled to 81F. Maybe that was the problem. My best guess is the AMP was acting up. I’ll have to keep an eye on it in the future.

I've gotten that message several times through my 10 years of ownership. I have learned to ignore it. It has gone away after a stop-start cycle. I guess it's sort of a re-boot of the system. Never had the time or curiosity to look into it. To many other issues to try to figure out. I was convinced after the first few years of ownership that the Porsche was a very reliable superior car compared to the Ford Explorer I traded. Now, not so much!

That was the first time I received that message after 16 years and 60,000 miles. Hopefully it was a fluke. I’m guessing it was the amplifier that was acting up.
