Front console drink cover repair.

Here is my write up on how I did my front drink cover repair.

Total time 10 minutes

Part number 7L5 862 531 (black)

Procedure:

1) Remove shift trim

2) Disconnect electrical connection and using the same Torx driver remove the cup holder box. NOTE: In this photo the screws are silver Phillips head machine screws.

3) Slide broken cover out of cup holder box.
4) Slide new cover in cup holder box.
5) Assembly is reverse of disassembly.

Good to know these are fixable. Mine's really stiff due to, presumably, many spilled lattes by prevoius owner.

I would go ahead and take it apart anyway, clean out the cover and the track. Likely coffee goo is causing resistance in the slide action.

Good info. Can actually apply to other parts on several vehicles.
