V6 and Diesel Cayennes?
I was reading some analyst reports on Porsche and noted much discussion of a proposed V6 Cayenne. These would be used to extend the model to a lower price-point.
There is also some speculation about a diesel (more likely, turbo-diesel) Cayenne, supposedly to appeal to Europeans (where diesel fuel is often much cheaper than petrol). However, Porsche have apparently pooh-poohed this idea.

Porsche is not about "Cheap" - they never have been. I would be very surprised to find that these are anything more than rumors.

An article in the local paper last week indicated that a 6 cylinder Cayenne is indeed on the way - I assume this would be badged the Cayenne, as opposed to the Cayenne S. The article was in regard to a 17% drop in Porsche stock prices related to poor sales of the Cayenne. The article also indicated that Porsche refuse to discount the Cayenne. I've found that dealers are discounting them by about $3,000 to $5,000 right now.

This CNN story has some more information. The article claims the move is mostly in the name of profit (i.e., running the Leipzig factory at capacity).
While not a fan of the Cayenne (fine car, from the wrong company!), I have adjusted to the idea of a fast SUV from Porsche. A 9.0 sec to 60 SUV? Now how does that help the brand?
