Trying to choose: 05 or 06S deal or 08S for new version?

I've driven an 04S a while back and yesterday an 08S-very nice umph. I could use some advice on buying?

Selling my 06, BMW, X5, 4.4 in the next few months and want to buy a Cayenne.
I love the power, torque the BMW has, yet the 08S had much more.

Is the 08 non S any good? They want 52K list for one at a local dealer- nice colors, but basic. If power is decent, the dollars are definitely better!

The price point on the 08 is 70Kish with nav, tow, good basics.

Anyone have thoughts on power comparisons on 05S or 06S which will start to come up for sale more (I hope) and the 08 versions?

The early ones had issues(electrical). Most issues were taken care of by 2005. Another perk for '05 is the dvd nav system that loaded under the seat(so you could use the cd player for music).

The 2005 and 2006 use the same motor so no differences in driving.

The old V6 was an absolute Dog... barely got out of its own way.

The new v6 with DFI does a pretty good job and runs well. I have not heard many complaints and other then the current recall on fuel lines, we havent had any issues. The addition of the "sport" button makes the Cayenne a little more fun(holds gears longer and starts in 1 not 2)

I would recommend taking the new V6 out for a spin to see if you can deal with the 100hp less figure.

PM me if you have any questions, i sell them.

Just replaced my 2004 Avalanche Daily Driver.

Looked at a number of off-lease Cayenne "S" and although feel they're a great vehicle, ended getting what I feel is a similar vehicle in an off-lease 05 V8 Touareg.

Realize it's not a Porsche, but then again driving a Cayenne is not the same experience as driving my 86 JP Carrera.

Figure I'll take the 15k I saved and drop it on go fast parts for the Carrera.
