Roof Rail Install
I bought the roof rails for the pepper off another Canadian a while back and just got to install them today. It's uber easy and took about 30 minutes. The former owner gave me the screws to mount as well, but in reading the Porsche TSB; it said to always replace the screws so I got new ones from the dealer. They have a blue loc-tite type coating on them to lock them in place so I thought better safe than sorry.
I started by cleaning the surface of the truck with a micro-fibre towel http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234043677.jpg Each one of the holder thingies has lettering on it which corresponds to where they go (letters out) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234043739.jpg The positioning is as follows: vR-Front, Right mL-Center, Left hL-Rear, Left vL-Front Left mR-Center, Right hR-Rear, Right http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234043766.jpg Put the back (rear) ones in first http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234043880.jpg Then put the rail over the holders and secure with screws. 6.5 Ft. Lbs. torque, and tighten the rear one first http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234043960.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234043977.jpg Same for the other side and your done. Don't put any load on them for a while so the loc-tite stuff can cure http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234044057.jpg Once tighten, use the plugs to fill the holes, they just push in. They go in this order: Long-rear, medium-middle, short-front. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234044068.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1234044083.jpg I just like the lines so much better with these on..... |

Cayenne Roof Rail install
I installed a used pair I bought on ebay for $390.00 today on my new Cayenne. They looked almost new but one had a little water inside. I removed a screw from underneath the middle of the rail and worked the water out by tilting back and forth. I found the install posting here to be helpful, but I used blue Loctite 248 on the used screws and had no problems. I also removed some of the metal bases on the clips to bend them and form a tighter fit in the channel. The screws require a T30 bit for installing. I would also recomend using a household stepping stool and using your free arm to apply downward pressure on the rail prior to the finale torque of each screw. The old cover caps worked fair but I will buy new ones when I have a chance. The rails gave the Cayenne a better look to me.
