Tranny seems clunky

Does anyone else think the tranny is clunky in these trucks?

I find it fine it full auto, but when it's in tip, I find the shifter shifts smoothly but the delay and kick when using the steering wheel shifter is crappy. Especially when shifting at higher revs.

I also hate it going into 1st when I am just ready to get going and find myself almost flooring it.

I have heard there are some software fixes, but I am just wondering if this is normal or it needs to be fixed?

Cheers.

I never thought of the transmission as being clunky.. I just thought of it as being a typical automatic. It seems to make better use of downshifting than other autos I've driven.

I can't really say I've played with the Tiptronic, I found it kinda of stupid, if I want to shift gears I'll drive my 911. However, now that you've mentioned all this, I'll go play with the tip on the way to and from work tomorrow and see how it is and let you know.

I've played with the Tiptronic for a few days and I think it feels like every other car with Tiptronic that I've driven.

I also experienced the same sensation with using the steering wheel buttons vs. the shifter, so I believe this is normal since the Porsche dealership said my car was completely up-to-date on all recalls, TSBs, etc.

Thanks,

Did you try it with PSM off? I find the shift on the wheel way different from the stick; stick goes in fine at all RPM, if reving high, the steering wheel shifters really make the truck buck into gear.

If yours isn't like this I'll be taking her in to get it looked at....

Cheers

This was all with PSM on. I'll try it again with PSM off and see if it changes.

With PSM off the shift into first comng to a stop is terrible. I never turn off PSM for that reason I just shift myself. About 75% of the time i shift the truck like its a manual and find it more rewarding then letting it shift by itself. Just missing a pedal.
