Need some brake info ??
 
Hi all new here on the forum.

I would like to change the pads on my Cayenne S, Have the pads do I also need new pad sensors or can I use the old ones. Also can you tell me what the TQ is
on the caliper bolts front and rear and the TQ on the lock bolt that holds the pads.

Technically you could reuse the sensors.

That being said- they are usually very brittle and do not cooperate. Not to mention- If you do a 4 wheel job and then find you have the pad wear light on, you must now figure out which of the 4 is boogered. I always replace them when I do the pads.

As for torque- I do not have the manual here at the homestead- But I will say I use a 1/2" impact to remove them. They can be very tight after some road grime gets to them.

The sensors are toast, once they become open circuit. ...or once they crumble on extraction. ;)

One use for an old sensor is to snip off the sensor ends and reuse the connector to make a test plug. (twist & tape the bare wire ends/close the loop)

The idea being that, when you get a low pad warning, you can simply unplug a sensor, and plug in the test-plug. This will help tell you which wheel/axle is sending the fault. ...or, if you just want to shut-up the warning and eek out a few more miles w/o the brake warning popping up. ...in case any of you have wives who over react to a brake pad warning. ;) (just don't forget about it.)
