Thumbs up 2004 Cayenne S-Fantastic!

Hey guy's, new Cayenne owner here. I got a 2004 S and I love it! I snapped a few pic's with my phone while I was at work earlier... Are there any performance upgrades you guy's can recommend? I was thinking about changing the stock exhaust with a B&B or something along those lines in the near future...

nice combo of Porsches. -- also have an SC and a 955s.

What kind of performance upgrades were you thinking of? If it's fuel economy, ya should have bought a 6-banger w/ a manual-tran. ...if it's acceleration, that you're after, should have bought a turbo. If it's cornering, and fun, just climb into the SC. --The Porsche engineers struck a great balance for each.

edit: Come to think of it, I did remove those heavy rear cargo covers. They felt like 40_lbs (ridiculously heavy)

Oh, and some 19" rims (w/ lower profile tires) give much crisper cornering, but are much more fragile when it comes to off-road, or even nasty pot-holes or curb-climbing. I have both 18's and 19's ... 18's for winter, 19's for summer. Some go to 20's w/ rubber-bands for tires.

I would like to bump the HP a little, and was thinking that I could do so by swapping the exhaust, air filters, air in take and re programing the ECU. (?)

An exhaust, intake and reprogramming the ECU could give you a bump in horsepower, but I'm not sure how much. Evo Motorsports says 12-15 with their ECU reprogramming, but don't say if that is with supporting modifications (e.g., intakes, exhaust, etc) or just a straight ECU reprogram.

Good luck with your search, they're fun vehicles to drive even without the mods.

Congrats! Looks sweet! I hope you did your research and have one that the common issues are taken care of. If not start saving your money.... Ours new engine at ~75k, drive shaft at ~90k, body shop tons of times because it's a target for dents and damage. Just out of the body shop again last week from a hit and run a cop witnessed. What are the chances? Then it quit so I replaced the 6yo battery only to find out the body shop disconnected the ground under the floor mat so it really wasn't the battery. Sorry to sound like a downer, I'm really not and it is a blast to drive when I can pry it away from the wife..

I haven't done any upgrades, I'm just trying to keep up.... LOL!

Sorry to hear about the hit and run... I already know what you mean about it being a target, mine was parked in front of my house and someone hit the driver side front bumper, scratching it all up. Nothing cracked or broken, thankfully. Well, it's in the body shop now, hopefully will get it back at the end of this week. an unexpected $400.

No biggie.. It's the wife's car. I told her that if she wants a newer one she'll have to get a BRIGHT RED one. Maybe then others will see her and not run in to her? LOL!!

I have a question about the 2004 Cayenne S? I have about 69K and I was planning to change the front brake pads, is necessary to change the rotors as well?

I'd check the thickness and compare that to the tolerance. Sorry I don't know what that is but I'm sure there's another site or others here that would have more info on this. My thought is that, yes you would have to change them depending on the wear. At 69k miles I would probably do it no matter what just because I probably wouldn't be keeping it to 140k miles anyways and it may help as a selling point latter on...

Nope. There is a brake thread here somewhere. Some say they change the rotors every time.
