Side View Mirrors HAUNTED

Frustrated 955 owner here.

I custom ordered my '05 Cayenne in '04 and took delivery of it in February 2005. It has 24,000 original miles on it and to call it a garage queen would be an understatement.

Last week I had the dealer replace a faulty fuel pump (67% covered under warranty) and thought I'll be good for a while . . . not that lucky

I noticed today that when I would try and adjust my drivers side view mirror the passenger side would move as well, both would move in opposite directions of each other.

Fortunately the setting for the passenger side was not corrupted so I could safely adjust both mirrors to use on the road.

SO tomorrow she goes back to the dealer.

Anyone have this problem? I suspect it is a bad switch, this one had better be covered 100% under the warranty or you'll see the following advertisement in the USED PORSCHE CARS FOR SALE section of Pelican

"Creampuff 2005 Cayenne V-6 LOADED -24K miles, front and back heated seats, factory navigation and satellite radio, park assist, has EVERY option except for the tow package, Make me an offer."

Update

Ok I'm an idiot

Apparently after five years I had never realized that when you move the drivers side view mirror it is NORMAL for the Passenger's mirror to also move.

I didn't believe my service writer so we went to another Cayenne and both mirrors moved when the toggle switch was moved to the left of the heated mirror choice.

Hard to believe Porsche would design it this way, guys check your cars verify that the two Cayennes I saw were operating normally.

That just doesn't sound right to me.

RNajarian 08-23-2010 08:58 AM

Yea, me neither.
But right after I spoke to my service writer a little old lady pulled up in her '05 Base Model 955 for a scheduled oil change.

Scott, my service writer took her key and showed me. Both mirrors moved when you adjusted the driver's mirror.

Doesn't make sense

You can turn-off that 'synchronizing'.

Go to the 'comfort' settings, IIRC.

RNajarian 08-23-2010 11:47 AM

Come to think of It I was screwing around with the comfort settings . . .

I'll check Island

You may have saved me from YEARS of aggravation -thanks

Pelican of the Day is . . . Island911

Island911 was right.

Somehow the Synchronizing feature of the mirrors was toggled on.
Going into the comfort features of the main menu allowed me to correct this issue.

I nominate Island911 for Pelican of the Day

Are you local (Los Angeles)?? You've earned yourself a beer.

:) no problem. Next time I'm in LA I'll take you up on that beer.
