New to the Cayenne family

Hello all,
Well after 10 years of Range Rover leases, my wife is ready for another SUV. Her current Range Rover sport lease is up this month. We were tired of the lease payments, so we wanted to buy. We looked at almost everything (except japanese - just can't pull the trigger), Mercedes, GMC, Range Rover, BMW, Audi and even a Mercury (wtf). So, I suggested a Porsche Cayenne. Her quote "What - Porsche makes great sports cars - but an SUV - they need to make up their minds."

Well we drove one and man, what a great car. Rides better than the Rover and faster too. Now she is excited about the car she drives. My wife never was excited about any of her cars - "its just a car". But not now - she parks it in no-mans land, wants all the Porsche accessories and hates to get it dirty.

Any info to look out for would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking

What most people don't realize, without the Boxster, Cayenne and the Panamera, Porsche could not afford to make specialty (rare) 911 models such as GT2, GT2RS, GT3, GT3RS, Turbo S, and the current 911 SC (sport classic). Pre-VW ownership of course. Congratulations on the new GTS, now go find a pound or a small lake and drive 100 mph through it... That is what Cayenne's do!

Update on the GTS

My wife was on her way home today about 5:00 PM. A 19 year old punk ass kid in a old primer ford pick-up took a left right in front of her. She is Okay, but the car isn't. It was drivable and took it straight to the Porsche dealer for immediate repairs. the front grill, spoiler, headlights and hood are trashed. Both fender quarters moved. Some interior body braces, electrical lines and misc are done, but no major structural damage. I'll try to post some pics, but I am too PO to think about it. We had this 1 month.

Dealer guaranteed that it will look and perform just as it was when it left the showroom. The general manager came out and told me that he would personally watch this repair and that everything will be done perfectly.

Good people. Well - I have to go and calm down.

That stinks to get your brand new car crashed into. Having a car in the shop is never a fun thing, especially a new one. The same thing just happened with my father's MB.. had it less than a month and then got turned into head on by someone not paying attention.

But it sounds like the car did its job, your wife is safe and the car took the damage. And the Porsche dealer is working to make it right. Make sure to get diminished value for the Cayenne.

mrm930, sorry to hear about the misfortune. It always hurts more when it happens to a car that you just got. Above all, no one is hurt. My CS was hit the first week I had it, hit and run. The coward just took off! I had to pay out of pocket... I'm sure your GTS will be good as new when you get it back.

Well we received our estimate. Almost $11,000.00 (lower than what I thought). So in a way, I think that this is good - less damage. Upon studying the estimate, I noticed that the Porsche body shop is replacing everything - no repair. This is very good.

I stopped in today - (similar to visiting a loved one in the hospital after surgery) - hoping to feel better about the hole f****** deal. It did - so what did I do? I priced out a new Targa 4S - may need to talk to the wife about this.

I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks,
Mark

Good new's... I'm a big fan of the Targa 4S, I don't see much of those around town. I would honestly have a T-4S with the optional power kit than a Turbo. Only draw back is the glass top and extra parts weigh the car down a little more.

That thing has more grille than a Freightliner!

I like it.

Best of luck with the repairs.

Parts are in - should be completed within two weeks. Then I have to take it back after the paint cures and have the clear bra installed. I will show pics of the after

Sorry, I clicked too soon. Here are the photos.

Should keep the grille as a trophy and mount in the garage. The only good thing is that the "repairs" are strictly bolt on new parts - no repairs to anything - just new parts.

Will keep you all posted.

Hello all,
Just FYI - car has been back for about 3 weeks. Looks just like new. Even better the dealer clayed to entire car, buffed and polished it before we took delivery. Thats good service. Replaced anything that they thought was questionable. Even delayed the delivery by 3 days because they wanted to replace some electrical sensors - just in case.

Wife says she was jones'n for her "baby" - and she is completely happy. So - all is good.

Thanks for the interest.

Mark

That's great! Suxs when you get a new car, wreck it and have to live with a loaner. When you get it back it's like getting a new car again. Glad to hear you are back on the road! Nice looking ride too!
