2004 cayenne S fuel starvation problem?

Hello all, new to the forum. I have a strange situation with my pepper. Took the Cayenne to the shop due to it not running well at all. Check engine light on. When the service manager called to inform us as to the problem was, he stated that the fuel pumps (yes pumps) there are two of them due the process of keeping the fuel low in the tank thus keeping the vehicle's CG low. The fuel pumps and fuel filter was replaced and all seemed well for approximately a week. Now only intermittently, when the car is first started it runs like it is starved for fuel. I lightly add accelerator pressure until the engine finally works what seems to be possible air in the system. Once it is running smoothly it stays that way. Any ideas? Thanks to all! Mark.

Did they check the fuel tank vent? May not be venting and the fumes and it's running them through the engine. That will make it sound and feel like it isn't getting fuel.

Good thinking, Bill.

Here's my experience http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cayenne/506799-incorrect-purge-flow-durametric-fault-code.html
