Cayenne Pictures
Anybody seen any official pictures yet? Sorry to sucker you into my thread like that, but I want to know what the headlights look like.
Nearly 60 years of heritage got thrown out the window when some artsypants decided to mess with the 911 headlights. Now all I'm worried about on a completely new vehicle from Porsche is what the headlights will look like.

I saw a shadow pic of three of them at the LA auto show, but nothing that I can say is specific...

I am on their cayanne mailing list some how...
and they are DRAGGING out this over dramatic revealing process.... lots of shadow pics like wayne said, flying through the frozen tundra of who knows where... seen pic of a test driver (interior shot) around the nurbering.... every so often they email me a link with pics...storyline and videos... BTW anyone know where I can get files of the videos they were showing at the LA Auto show in the porsche exhibit? Some of those videos had great race footage and historical montages... Porsche should post them and all their porsche commercials at their website... MJ |

Does the shadow outline pictures, etc. indicate that it will hold a keg or two. This will be a requirement of a Porsche truck,......excuse me, SUV.
Good luck, David Duffield |

For some reason, that link wasn't working for me. I tried again. Just click on the picture (which looks like a computer-generated image, to me) for the story.

Aw, so this is the result of Porsche jacking up C4s and running around the desert. It appears more a 996 wagon than an SUV.

It'll wind up looking pretty much like all the other mid-size imported SUV's. Different headlights, badges and grill - otherwise cookbook design I'm sure. But Porsche have a huge decision on their hands. Maybe it's already been made. Who knows? The decision is: how well do we want this thing to perform? We've all heard the reports that a test Cayenne out-ran a 996 around the Nurburgring. The technology is certainly available to give the Cayenne nearly any performance level desired. On the one hand, Porsche need to make their new SUV stand out from the crowded crowd and be the performance leader - by a wide margin if it is to be of significance! On the otherhand, I would be flat out irrate if I had just purchased a 996 and it was being out-performed by a family station wagon. -- Curt

Quicker than a 996 at the 'ring. I don't know. The cg is so high I don't see how it could corner as well as a 996.
How many hp is the motor and what is the weight of the vehicle? A C2 996 is about 2900 lbs with about 317 hp. Pete |

I heard that it will use Audi's hi/low suspension so I will not roll over like other SUVs...

Butt ugly, ain't it? Tell me why it's better looking than a say, Toyota or Subaru....Yes, it'll sell. Every golf club in the country will see them in parking lots soon. That is the 911 downfall. The 911 won't carry a foursome...Yep, the 'Vette looks better all the time. Maybe a '67?

According to the Motor Trend article it will have these engines. A Volkswagen-built 3.2L/240-hp V-6, Porsche's own 4.2L/337-hp V-8 and a 4.2L/449-hp 442 lb-ft twin-turbo V-8. I wonder if you can squeeze the twin turbo into a 911?

Before you revolt and leave the circle, slap the !@?? out of who ever drew that piece of crap up. If I wanted a German truck, I'd buy an old Merc car hauler and use it just like the factory did in the old days. That would look real cool at vintage day.

Its a Subaru outback with a slant nose. That makes a 914 look down right pretty.

If Porsche wants to enhance the image of this thing as something other than a grocery cart, they must enter it in the Paris to Dakar race.........and win.
Remember how the 959 looked when it was elevated. I hope this has similar results. |
