Should I have a seatbelt buzzer?
I swear I had one, but I think it sounded sick and died one morning. The problem is I can't remember now. I have the light on the information screen telling me to buckle up, but no noise at all. Should there be one?
|
yeah, it should ping at you.
let me know what to break. . . er, what broke that made it stop. |
damn, trip to the dealer.
|
my guess is debris in the latch receptacle.
|
It knows that I'm not belted in, it shows in on the display. Just no sound. And I noticed that I no longer have a headlight warning buzzer either, might be the same module.
|
ah. ...of course.
|
And your turn signal indicator sound doesn't work either. The only way to fix this is to replace the entire instrument cluster. And the Turbo has its own special cluster.

So it's a speaker inside the instrument cluster that goes out. As mentioned above the entire cluster has to be replaced. It's going to be two days to get the part from PCNA in the meantime I have a lovely Toyota Corolla rental car.
|
Make sure you get the speakerless cluster back from the shop.
btw, anyone know if a turbo instrument cluster will plug & play into a 955S? |

In the meantime I have an oh so lovely Toyota Corolla as a loaner car from them. It seems wrong to drop of my Porsche and get a Corolla in exchange, but oh well. |
What a saga this is. They got the cluster, and while installing it damaged the leather trim around the cluster. Going to be another day now before the leather repair guy can get it fixed.
I can safely say that I will never willingly drive a Corolla again. It's almost dangerous when trying to merge into traffic around here. |
saga? ...sounds like a cluster....
I'm still amazed that the speaker alone can't be changed for less than the cost of a turbo cluster. (Color LCD and all) |
I have it back, works now. I was also surprised that they couldn't repair the cluster, it would seem like not only a quicker repair, but also less costly. Of course when I asked them about this they didn't know.
The good news for me is that the leather repair is perfect as far as I can see. And they also fixed a scratch I had on the backseat that I figured would have required recovering. |
The speaker is inside the cluster and is not available separately. The dealer is not able to take apart the cluster for anything. It can only be replaced. The park assist speaker, however, is a separate piece that is very inexpensive to replace. You would think that they would be able to make the cluster speaker like this too, but as posted above it is a cluster ....!

I wish I could find this little speaker on all my cars. I'd rip it out of every one of them. I can't stand the stupid incessant dinging. I don't even know, or care, what it means. All I know is it's very annoying and it doesn't exist on European-spec cars. They're governments don't feel the need to nag their citizens to death. (Probably because they try to tax them to death, but that's another post).

I have no ding for anything. I thought that was odd but didn't know. Mine is an 04S. Does it mean if I want to fix this I have to get a new cluster?
Thanks Thom |
