Brake Booster Faulty Warning Indicator
 

Has anyone had this problem and has the dealer recommended that the booster be replaced because that is usually the problem. It does have a split hose at the vacuum assist pump and I have topped off the brake fluid. I have made a quick wrap off silicone tape around the tube to see if that would cure the problem but it didn't. Any other suggestions? This "04" Turbo is like a Jaguar built in the 60's as to repairs.

I'm an original owner of a 1970 914-6

I've seen many of those cracked hoses. The hose has always fixed it, I have never seen a booster itself go bad. As a "quick-fix" I have pulled the hose off the plastic connection where the crack is, slide two tubes of heat shrink tubing on the hose, put silicon in the crack and inside the hose at the end, slide the hose back onto the connection, and then heat up each layer of heat shrink over everything one by one. I have seen this fix last several years. To replace the hose itself is tricky but doable in a couple hours. I can't remember off the top of my head, it's been a few months since I've done one, but I don't think that fault will clear on its own. You will have to find someone to clear it for you after repairing it.

I'll ask my mechanic tomorrow, as I am visiting for my Boxster. I had the same issue in mine last year. Thought it was the booster, but after replacing all those lines, it was still there.
Turned out to be a pressure "blow off valve"?? something to do with boost. but not the booster.
