Separate Cayenne board, PLEASE!
How about starting a SUV board, or at least moving all Cayenne threads to OT ranting, so I don't have to be reminded of that thing every time I log on to my favorite BBS? Feel free to correct me if I am out of order here.

I second that motion. -- Curt

Third -- Latte cup holding battering rams have no place on a 911 board.

I agree
I agree that the Cayenne should have a separate board, but merely because the majority on this board will not be much help in answering technical questions on this vehicle, and a separate board should elicit more related responses.
As a die-hard air-cooled Porsche owner, I'm going to go out on a limb (and I know there are lots of guys with power saws on this board) and say I think everyone is being too hard on both the Cayenne and Boxster. I wouldn't turn down either one. And for those that have a second vehicle that is a SUV, I would think they would trade it in a minute for a Cayenne if the price was right. The whole issue with the Cayenne is whether Porsche should make anything other than a sports car. There are very few pure sports car companies left and I think the thought of Porsche deviating from this path just rubs some the wrong way. You can't really compare Porsche to BMW or Mercedes who have always had a full family of vehicles including sports cars. The only other company I can think of that just made sports car and a SUV was Lamborghini. Personally, as long as Porsche continues to keep their sports cars true to the air-cooled heritage and get back to the business of kicking Ferrari's azz and racing, I don't care if they sell blimps on the side. The current path that Porsche has taken with the 996 bothers me more than them entering the SUV market. |

Should be,
It will pepetuate the comraderie of those who choose that direction and alleviate the temptation to deride by those who don't. Healthy for both factions. Mrdi |

And there was great rejoicing!

Hey great work.
The guy that buys THE Cayenne should have some interesting arguments with himself for the first few months. He may be like the Maytag repairman for a bit.
Taking bets on how long before the turbo owner starts flaming the non-turbo owner. |
I was snooping on Rennlist, and there are a few people who have actually ordered them already. Looks like all the pundits may be wrong after all.
They only need 25,000 to break even. That's a very low number. -Wayne |

I dont realy care if Porsche is making money or not with it; all I want is to be able to have fun on the street without all those flying bricks around me.
