2004 CTT turn signal and headlight warnings
I have, on my rough gravel road, had a number of intermittent "check dipped beam" messages, with the left low beam light going out for just a half second or so. This finally led to the left front turn signal going completely dead a month or so ago. Contact cleaner and cleaning up the bulb holder did not fix the problem. I noticed that the insulation on the wires behind the connector that the headlight assembly slides into was flaking apart. So I ordered new wiring harnesses for both sides and a new turn signal bulb holder for the bad side, along with a new bulb of course.
After putting in the wiring harnesses, the situation was actually worse. At one point I had no working front lights at all. I finally decided to get a long screwdriver behind the headlight (installed and firmly clicked into place) and push the white connector into it. This immediately fixed the problem and all lights work as they should, including the self-leveling function and steering lights.
I'm writing this for posterity. If you drive on rough roads and get warnings or errors related to lights in the front of your Type 955 Cayenne, reach behind the light and push the connector into it. It might just not be seated all the way.
