2006 Cayenne S, Installed new Dynavin N6-PC System

We'll I finally bit the bullet and bought the Dynavin N6-PC System to replace my factory radio in my 2006 Cayenne S.

My system was the Bose fiber optic type and the sound quality and amplification was very good even without the factory amplifier. My research finally lead me to go with the Dynavin unit with built in navigation, I did need the CANBUS/MOST solution which was included along with my kit.

I have to be honest but it was very simply to install and the toughest parts were routing the Navigation antenna which actually did not take too much effort. I think I spent more time trying to organize my wire harness in order to fully seat the Dynavin N6-PC.

The latest software version is fantastic and everything seems to be working very well. My navigation, radio, USB's, and all the other features that are functional and not future upgrades is working well. I still have steering controls but there are a few things lost like the text displayed on my cluster for the songs playing or radio station listening to. This is no big deal since it is displayed on the nice 7" screen for my Dynavin.

Overall, I'm impressed with the system, it has plenty of power for my BOSE system and looks and fits great. I can honestly recommend it. The navigation is incredible and my system came with the latest maps. I can also have free upgrades for the next three years. I can't wait for the next rounds of updates/upgrades like internet and some other cool apps that it comes with. My next project will be to integrate the rear view camera which looks pretty simple to do as well.

Thanks for the write up.
I have been considering this, I see them as low as $700.

So far all is well, nice unit with lots of capabilities. The only problem I had was removing my micro SD card which shoots right out of the unit if you press and release too fast. My entire interior is black as well as the micro SD and it took a while to find it.

I backed up my micro SD and downloaded the latest maps as well which also had some fixes. It's working well.

This is great I was looking for a while for something like that. I didn't look that hard, LOL. However, this must be a lot easier to install than the system which was installed in this thread http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cayenne/844845-head-unit-amp-way-do.html. I was really thinking about this, but the fact that I would loose the steering wheel control sopped my, and I had too many other things going on.

Thanks

Hi @determined can you post some photos please....... Which MOST kit did you use to tie in to the Bose system?

Determined 09-25-2015 08:37 AM

I apologize for the slow reply, I've been traveling a lot lately, I'll post pictures now.

Dynavin Pictures

Here are some pictures, I'm still very pleased with the unit, only a few things that are so so but overall very good. You might not notice it but I tilted my unit slightly to provide me a better view (at least in my opinion), it also allows more airflow into the unit. It looks equally nice perfectly flat but it was only my personal preference.

Maybe a few stupid questions, but trying to make sense of it all:

Do you need anything to use the existing Bose audio from the cayenne with this interface (like the Moberg Most kit?). Can you connect a cable to the glove box to charge your iphone? Can your Iphone play music via bluetooth as well?

Thanks

Determined 10-12-2015 11:27 AM

Good questions, in my case I did utilize the MOST kit which is simply a small box/harness. It plugged in easily. I ran a USB cable from the rear to the left side of my radio for connecting to my Iphone. I can with ease pull the cable out further or push it in as well, I like it.

I cannot play music via Bluetooth, only when my phone is connected to my USB cable. My Bluetooth phone connection is very nice, I can make/receive calls with clarity and scan through my contacts with ease. I'm told it sounds pretty good but my engine at times is a little loud.

Below is a picture of where I routed my USB cable, I bought a better quality flat cable that is built better and easier to push/pull on.

I am interested in doing this, too. Did you install the rear view camera?

Determined 12-24-2015 11:25 AM

I have a camera but I have not installed it yet, looks to be not too difficult. The wire is easily found on the rear of the unit. The longest part will be routing the wire from the camera to the front.

I did install a wireless camera and it worked great for a while then have out, I won't use wireless again.
