2006 Cayenne Turbo S Brake booster failure light
 

Thought I would post a thread as I tackle the brake booster failure light issue. I know there are others but maybe this will be helpful.

This may have been one of the easiest things to find. The brake booster warning was on when I bought the car but the comment I got from the seller was, yeah I knew it was on but I didn't feel like paying to have a vacuum leak found. So instead of killing the deal on a very to hard find car I figured I would do it myself no problem. Well, my problem is I like to put it off and put it off and etc... you get the hint. It got to the point that I was putting off driving the car too much because I was concerned that I might shorten (which I may have) the life of the brake booster vacuum pump. So anyway finally got around to looking at it and with in 5 minutes of taking off the engine bay vanity covers I found it. (why didn't I do it sooner?) The hose right at the vacuum pump had a two large cracks in it, right at the pump and on the opposite end where it connects to the check valve.

As you can see on the bottom I (not the best picture) I wrapped it with electrical tape until the new part came in.

So after doing some research I decided to get both the vacuum line at the pump and the line behind the engine firewall under the wiper motor.

So I proceeded to replace the bad vacuum line and after I looked closer at the line behind the firewall which was still in very good condition I decided to hold off. In order to run the line behind the firewall it would be a very long process and it really did not need to be changed. So when I replaced the bad line I carefully cut it at the connection to the line behind the firewall so to not ruin that line. Little wiggling on the bad line to get into place and it slipped right into place without a lot of trouble.

I did NOT have to remove the engine torque support.

But I did remove the Vacuum Pump and the Vacuum Pump bracket which made it a whole lot easier.
