Exclamation Strong Cayenne Opinions

YUK. Abomination. Frightful. A stunning affront to the marque. Couldn't they just have made a 4-door sedan instead? That would have been bad enough, but acceptable.

See, Ferdinand had just finished the design of the Tiger II--the heaviest tank of WWII, at well over 50 tons--and swore forever more to design lightness and smallness. Bad enough that most new Porsches weigh over 3,000 Lbs. Now the company bearing his name makes a G#$^#%$^ F^&*^%%#^ 5,100-Lb. SUV, fer chrissakes. Unb-e-l-i-e-v-a-b-l-e. They're laughing their asses off over at Ferrari......

I have to agree with most of your points, kristian.

On another note, it's nice to see a fellow Neubuaten fan on the boards.

First, nobody laughs over at Ferrari, all the laughing is done at FIAT. when Ferrari pays their own bills, then they can laugh. until then all we can do is laugh at them.

Second, it all went downhill about 40 year ago when Porsche turned a nimble and lighweight 4 cylinder sports car into a pig of a grand tourer which was several hundred pounds heavier. don't complain about weight of modern Porsches when the weight-gain plan started about 40 years ago. the golf-bag and plaid pants crowd wants air conditioning, CD players, GPS navigation, a dozen air bags, heated seats, soundproofing, and enough electronics to build a Radio Shack out of. 5100 lbs is the weight of 4 "super size" americans in a 993.

you want lightweight, buy a Lotus. just don't complain about the electrical system.

Porsche's engineering prowess over the decades has led to serious performance products, not just in sports cars, but in virtually every segment. Not always under their own name, but their engineering nonetheless.

A vehicle designed for more surfaces than just paved ones, with the best engineering on the planet, providing performance and comfort whether carrying people to the store, or across the Australian Outback, sounds like Porsche's area of expertise, alright. yes, it took them a while to get ther, and they seem late to the party, but they brought all the best stuff. And that's what Porsche is all about.

Hell, the first car to carry Porsche's name was a HUGE electric FWD car. Engineering is what Ferdinand was about, not just smallest and lightest.

Everything would be right with me if they won the Paris-Dakar rally with it or something like it. Just race it--that's what Porsche has been touting of when it comes to their name, and that's what we've come to expect.

221k miles and still kicks ass!!!

An Air Force Fighter Pilot was asked, "What's it like flying the F-16?"
He replied, "It's like driving a Porsche!"

emmisions and safety standards are making our cars heavier. more weight thus a bigger motor, bigger brakes, bigger radiator blahblahblah.

is there logic behind the pepper mobile? is it for anal nits like me that don't drive their 30 year old pcars in snow or rain? maybe.

4 door 928. yeah i'd have one. with 4 wheel drive. sign me up for a gst.

yes, the pepper ride is pretty ugly. i like cars with round headlights and no or minimal plastic.

if your p-ppper gets stuck, i'll come pull you out with one of these.
