2004 Cayenne S AC Problems

Hi Everyone,

I have searched and searched and tested as much as possible. I am ready to ask a question now, please go easy on me.

04 Cayenne S
AC compressor won't engage / turn on. Durametric codes:

1592 - Air Quality Sensor
898 AC Compressor Activation

Does anyone have any experiences with any of this? Would it be most prudent just to replace the Air quality sensor and maybe the AC relay in the engine compartment relay box for starters. I guess what I'm asking for is advice now that I've done some testing and investigating. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance, Matt

Hey Matt!

I wouldn't worry about the air quality sensor at this point...That sensor will not prevent the compressor from activating. Now, to answer your question, I have not yet had to deal with that particular code, but I believe that the a/c compressor is activated after receiving the request from the climate control head. That being said, use your Durametric to go in to DME> "Input Signals", and see if you see the compressor ON input when you activate the a/c from inside the car. You should also be able to go in to Climate control and look at "actual values" and see if the a/c should be commanded on... If you find that the DME is not seeing the request from the climate control head, it is probably the control head itself. Are you able to activate the a/c compressor by using the "Drive links" (or Drive Links active can't remember exactly where the a/c comp is...) in either DME or Climate control?
