Starting problems 2009 Cayenne GTS

I have a 2009 Cayenne GTS. My problem is when I try to start the car, if I don't pump the brake pedal three times, it won't start, and when it finally does, I get the Brake Proportioner and ABS warning light. It won't shift into gear at first, but then will "unlock" after 15 seconds or so. Once it's going, there is no problem other than the Check Engine light staying on for the next few starts. I've checked the wiring harness under the driver's side carpet, and it seems dry and I don't see any corrosion. I also replaced the battery. Can anyone think of something else to check?

Welcome to the forums! Is there a clicking sound that you hear when attempting to start the car? If so, it could be the starter system going out. Check out the below link from our site's DIY tech article section and see if you're able to troubleshoot the issue. If you have anymore questions, feel free to post a Comment just below the article and someone will get back to you with more detailed info. Best of luck!

No, the car doesn't make ANY noise when I turn the key. I put a new battery in a couple of weeks ago, and checked the wiring under the driver's carpet. The weird thing is, if I pump the brake pedal 3 times before turning the key, it starts with no problem.

Is there a brake pedal switch that connects to ECU?
Just a thought
