Higher mileage thoughts 160k+
Hey
I'm trying to read up on old threads about reliability for these cars. But some of the threads are getting older I'm looking for a daily driver and there are a few cheap options out there with 160,000-180,000 miles on the clock. In addition to coils, coolant lines and the shaft. Anything that tends to keep popping up at these mileage ranges? Wheel bearing or other stuff? Seems a lot of people decide to offload their cars around this mark...

Other than the three issues already noted add sunroof drains and the rear bushings on the front control arms. Upgrade to the Turbo S arms when a vibration at 40-80 mph is noticed that balancing the tires can't get rid of. The only way to really check the bushings is to use a load arm like this.

I think a well sorted, regularly oil changed Cayenne is of great value for less than $10k. Plus I like the look of the older model especially with 19' or 20' inch rims. I have an 08 and in addition to drive shafts (vendor in FL has used shafts) it is generally a very reliable truck.
I had some idling issue a few years ago at 120k miles and had an apparent cracked cam something that was a fairly big repair around $1,000. The brakes wear out a lot faster than normal SUV's as these are heavy but safe vehicles, a blower motor for AC/heat needed to be replaced and now more recently I have a "fuel pressure sensor" code error that is being replaced but the part is only around $100.00 I am now at 162k and I think the vehicle still runs great. I had asked my mechanic if he thought I should dump it after losing power and stalling a few times but if it is just this "fuel pressure sensor" and it runs for another few years it will earn best vehicle ever honors. Agree with Surf. I have a Cayenne with 200k and it runs great. Now in the market for a convertible of some sort to take to the beach. Any thoughts?

Hey BeachNCars, thanks....
I feel like the Porsche 911's are fairly to fully valued. They are great and really well worth it but are priced as such now. So, whats next on appreciation potential? If you don't mind a go kart little 2.0 FI Engine, I think the early 80's Fiat Spiders eventually start to appreciate. You can pick up a beach cruiser for 4k that needs work and cosmetic issues....up to to 9k in pristine condition...Same Pininfarina factory as Ferrari. There were so many imported to US (80% of market) they are still at bottom of depreciation scale and I think they eventually start to appreciate despite having reputation of FIAT "fix it again tony" back in day

Surf65 you sound like a very knowledgeable owner. I don't think I'd mind the 2.0 go kart, especially with the Pininfarina. I see you're in Jersey, I'm in the area as well. Any ideas where to look?

More or less a plastic tube disconnects. If its just a sunroof, it's usually the A-pillar/above your head getting wet, sometimes the floor on the passenger side. Tube comes off the drain spout at the sunroof module. If its the panoramic roof the rears get plugged with dirt. If theres no sun/pano roof the gaskets for the roof rack rails leak.
