The Good and the Bad

So I've started thinking about a Cayenne to supplement my 84 911. Reading here about things to look for.
Today I saw a 04 Cayenne S with 72K miles. So the good, nice blue color, savannah beige interior, tow package, small sunroof. Pretty basic which is good right. Hmm,,, spent a bit of time waiting for the owner to show up.

Now the bad or maybe not so bad. Owner is a Romanian used car sales man. Young guy at a little local lot. Asked about the coolant tubes and tees, he said when he replaced the starter he had inspected the tubes and they were good. Well we know that's BS, but as someone said, if it still has the plastic tubes at least you know that they haven't blown and overheated the engine, yet. plastic on steering wheel and console was trashed. Headliner was drooping. No records about past service, just a recent oil change and brake and coolant flush. I asked for a car fax and he gave me a screen shot of the auto report, that only showed basic stuff. But there had been 5 owner and this kid had it for 5 yrs. Brakes and tires and wheels all look like they are ready for replacement.

Plus he wants way too much money, Oh well, it was the first one I have sat in and at least it fits my big self.

Sounds like one to pass on - I think the coolant tubes would be the first thing to get replaced by an owner knowing the potential damage. On the the next one...best of luck!

Don't do it!

There are plenty of other good maintained cars on line.
