Blower Motor Question
Hi Guys,
I'm hoping someone can help me shed some light on an acting up blower motor. Car is a 2005 V-6 with 49,000 miles. Recently the family travelled to Palm Desert (outside temps got up to 120 degrees F.) Entire time A/C worked as expected except for one time when the A/C seemed to shut off. I fiddled with something and the system roared back to life. Before heading home I verified A/C r134 level (yes I travelled with a Can of r134 and a gauge) was normally filled, right in the middle of the green zone. Today I was using the A/C in 90 degree F heat, and all seem to work well when at one point the blower motor seemed to shut off. I could feel cold air slowly coming out of the vents and in fact I had a thermometer in the vent and verified 50° coming out of the vent (albeit very slowly). I turned the fans to maximum in both the front and the back vents to no avail. No change in the flow of air. I shut off the AC turned it back on and again no improvement. I shut the car off and started again with no improvement. Since there was some very cold there slowly drifting out of the vents I continued home and continue to play with the A/C settings, temperature, fans, recirculation, AUTO etc. Then on it's own after about 10 minutes the fan seem to slowly come back to life and then began to blow high-volumes of air as expected. I'm curious if anybody else has had this type of problem and if so how did you repair it? I am thinking it may be the blower motor regulator, which Wayne has a Tech Article already ready for me to use, but before I take the car apart I was wondering your thoughts. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Porsche-Cayenne/35-ELEC-HVAC_Blower_Fan_and_Regulator_Replacement/35-ELEC-HVAC_Blower_Fan_and_Regulator_Replacement.htm Thanks for your thoughts. |
I am thinking it may be the blower motor regulator --me too. (BTDT)

Had a similar problem.
I replaced both the motor and the regulator at the same time. But the regulator is usually the culprit. |
Thanks Guys.
I drove the car for a week, no problem then it reappeared. Blew at 1/4 power. Then after 10 minutes 100% Going to swap the regulator soon Regards |
