Alternator
 

Esteemed Members,

My 2008 Cayenne 185,000 miles just had the alternator go. My daughter took the vehicle to College and it wouldn't start or a jump only lasted briefly before dying again. My local mechanic is calling his supplier to see if he knows anyone near Hartford, CT that can do the repair. Has anyone had to replace an alternator and would you know approximately what the total cost would be for an alternator job.

V6 or V8?
I've read around $2K to $3K for the 8 depending on NA or turbo. The turbo sounds like a full on nightmare to the replace the alternator.

Thanks George, I have a V6...Surprisingly the alternator got a 14 volt signal so was just a really dead battery but also some fuel sensor codes. Should have it sorted later today.
