Hurry up guys...your chance to buy a chance to buy a Cayenne. Unbelieveable!

What is this world coming to?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6058&item=1875754108

From ebay ad: "This auction is to buy my rights to purchase the new Porsche Cayenne SUV from a Porsche dealership. I have had a deposit to purchase the Porsche Cayenne SUV since March 2001 at a Porsche dealership in the midwest. Be one of the first people to own the vehicle expected to arrive spring of 2003. You can still choose options and model: "S" or "Turbo" through dealership. Dealer waiting lists already have hundreds of names, be one of the top ten. This is a legally binding purchase for a guaranteed position when the vehicle first becomes available for sale. All promotional literature included."

Well at least the seller had enough sense to get out of buying it!

Auctions like this happen all the time. When the new 996 Turbo was on the way there were auctions in excess of $10k for "rights".

Some people *need* to be "first on the block".

Thats crazy. There are many dealers in my area that will gladly get a customer set up with rights "for free" without all this nonsense. But heh, its this persons $$$$, they can waste it if they want.

A few years ago when the tech and housing market was booming, someone bought a house in Burlingame for a million dollars cash- they couldn't get financing because the roof had caved in from rot.
