4x8 Porsche dealership sign
This sign was removed from the Jim Ellis Porsche dealership in 80’s. I had a custom backlit sign box built for it. This sign looked great in my garage but no longer have room for it.
Price : AT AUCTION https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/illuminated-porsche-dealership-sign-4-x-8/ Location Kentucky http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1584980635.jpg |
Only 1 more day until the auction ends.
|
The sign sold but if anyone is interested I a have another that is identical .
|
For how much?

I believe these are reproductions, not period pieces...

Stephen, I believe you are correct. I bought one from Restoration Design a few years back. I paid 1100 for it knowing it was a repop. This sign sold for 5500 according to the auction sight. Porsche never made a 4 x 8 sign. There’s a whole thread on fake ‘real’ signs over on the S.

I'm guessing it was probably shill bidding up to that price just to 'make a market' at that price... shocking really...

Hi guys I’ve totally neglected pelican lately. To answer all your concerns porsche did make a 4x8 (not exact size) sign. The sign that sold and the current sign that I still possess are 100% authentic. I have photo documentation that this sign was a marquee for an Atlanta Porsche dealership. On a flip note please keep your opinions about my auction ethics to yourself. Happy Driving :)

Would be great to see the evidence of provenance - here and in the auction site.
|
I attached a photo on the auction listing. The sign was originally double sided but I chose to make them single sided when I had the light boxes fabricated.
|
I think provenance would be photos of the sign in situ at the dealership, paperwork to prove where it was, etc., the issue with these signs is that there are many fakes available and i know someone who lent his authentic sign to someone to make smaller, 8 x 4 replicas... there doesn't seem to be much evidence this size of sign was ever used in dealers...
