Bill Lumbergh's Office Space SC on CL!!

No affiliation...

I did see a story about this car once...might have been on this board... there were a couple of cars used in the movie if IIRC b/c of the different shots needed.

Anyway, if anyone remembers that car, and like me, actually thought Bill was cool for driving it...despite the intended irony in the movie, here's your opportunity to own some movie memorabilia (assuming the provenance checks out) ;)

Bill Lumbergh's Office Space movie Porsche 911!

What year is the actual car?

According to the vin that is posted in the ad, it's a '74. $25k for a 74 with some missing bits and pieces, plus needs an engine rebuild, sounds like a steal.

Says its a '74 with a '71 engine. Considering its not an authentic anything I think the price is a bit high.

allaircooled 03-08-2014 08:54 PM

Worse than I thought after checking it out on ebay.

timmy2 03-08-2014 09:04 PM

Says he'll take a bank check.
I think a blank check to make something out of it is more appropriate! :)

j911brick 03-08-2014 09:08 PM

I dont see any genuine provenance so that adds not value to the car.

Now I see what you mean. That car has some serious rust issues. I hope the buyer sees that. He spent a tone of money on wheels and tires and the whole rest of the car needs a full rustoration.

wow .. they really let that car go after the filming ....

I didn't really see anything in about if it was fully documented either .... yea the plate looks to be right but ....

looks to be a bit far gone for what they are asking ....

All but one pictures is from the movie so yeah, its looks right.

j911brick 03-08-2014 09:31 PM

I just seen the other pictures. At some point it looks like the car was left outside with the hood off or open for many years. Also, there are no mirror holes in the passenger door, and the movie car clearly had a passenger mirror.

What, it wasn't even a real SC? Feels like the time I saw Magnum PI's 308 in the flesh and it turned out to be a fiberglass kit car.

So if you could just go ahead and restore it to mint condition over the weekend that would be g-r-e-a-t. Ok?

Edit: anyone notice the big sunny hole in the shadow of the car. This car is done for.

matt930s 03-09-2014 06:47 AM

There was another one that was parted out here a few years back.

What! Magnum PI's Ferrari was a kit?!!! Maybe they smashed the first few real ones and then the bean counters got involved. You'd think Ferrari would throw 'em a bone for all the free advertising

Wonder if this got parted out once, then partially reassembled for a project, now being re-sold...?

My guess is it's not even the same car as the one in the movie. Even so, just because a car was in a movie, how would that make it worth even $1 more?

Racerbvd 03-09-2014 11:18 AM

My 78 SC was used in a movie in the 80s.. And my old 944 was used in a 976-sleaze commercial too:D
