Great project I like the idea of front and rear batteries not meeting original weight distribution since these cars were a bit rear heavy on corners. Just have to maintain or lower center of gravity, may have to go wider rear wheels or turbo wells.
What's your initial major materials cost not including welding and labor. I'm about to do a Chevy SBC 383 in a 1981 SC Targa with RH kit. |

I mounted the controller on rubber feet. The plywood not permanent and is just to protect the lower layer of batteries.

Just read through this and most of your blog as well. Nice project! I had considered doing a conversion very similar to this when I first got my Targa but went the motor rebuild route instead. I'd like to see this in person some day.

How you deal with rain water in engine comp? I was having issue with rain coming into the engine comp around the lid, so I have created custom gasket, as no Porsche PN for this. Gas Engine very happy with some rain water, so it becoming "somewhat water cooled"... -Y |

With a flat torque curve from 0 to 4500 rpm, I can stomp on the accelerator at will and get a nice push back into the seat. I was a bit heavy with my 100 mile range pack of batteries. 400 lbs over stock. So i went with stiffer torsion bars. Stock was 19 mm front and 24 mm rear, and now I'm running 22 mm in front and 29 mm in rear. Much better. I had the alignment done at Rothsport Racing. I couldn't be more pleased with the result. Someday, batteries will be lighter and cheaper, and then there will be some real magic possible. |

Just came across your thread. Great project and thank you for sharing it with us. Don't know much about the technology but I want to embark in a similar conversion of a 911 once I finish my RST project (911 tech forum) which is at the other end of the other end of the pendulum in so far as fuel efficiency is concerned. So, I'm subscribed, please keep your updates coming.
