motorcycle radiators?
 

Has anyone considered using two radiators from a large displacement motorcycle for cooling? I am considering one mall radiator mounted sideways behind each wheel. Has anyone attempted or considered this? I am cooling a 3 liter Subaru motor. Thanks

I Looked into it, really the math of how much air flow vs how much cooling you need is where I would spend my time, if you can weld, look into all aluminum jeep xj radiators, they are about perfect for any 4-6 cyl per the amount of cooling needed, and are cheap compared to bike radiators which can be upward of 200 per... and if you do the hood exit cooling vent after clipping the front airdam there isn't excess dirty air under your car for high speed runs

Here's my 2 cents, the cooling system in a conversion is probably the most important part of the conversion. In my case I had Wizard Cooling build me a radiator. By doing so they placed the mounting brackets where I wanted them, they gave me inlets and outlets where I wanted, and gave me the diameter that I wanted. They can also give you a thicker core if it's needed.

If you're running the 2 radiators in series then it's important to have the inlets and outlets placed so the water circulates from top to bottom. I'm sure it will cost more, but on some summer day while you're stuck in traffic you'll be happy that you maxed your cooling system with the right stuff.

It sounds like a lot of guesswork being done here. Remember that cooling is not only the size of your radiator, it has a lot to do with location. You need a negative pressure drop to carry away the hot air. Equal pressure on either side will mean your fan will run all of the time.

Do some measurements before you mount anything and I would suggest exploring the locations later model Porsches used in the front fenders. Of course, manufacturers sink millions of $$ and manhours to find what works best.

I saw a very nicely done Subaru conversion on a old vw beetle at Cars and coffee in Greensboro NC. he used 2 Kawasaki , 1 in each of the front wheel wells like the 911's put the oil coolers and had a small lower front mount radiator too. It was nice that he did not cut up the bug to put one radiator in.
