no cooling issues till the bore split..The radiator i had made had been doing well
|
How high did your coolant temps get?
My temps are always in an area off 180 - 210 unless it is above 85f. Normal driving is never a problem but 3000 rpm’s or higher on a 85 f day and the coolant rises to 220 or. 230 and I don’t let it get higher. I love your coolant lines setup. I still plan a large rear radiator on my 86 but with a smaller radiator up front for those hot days. Are your coolant lines off off the engine block custom or did you order online? Where? Thx |
The coolant headers are from Davies Craig. As for temps. On track I see 100deg c and heavy traffic on hot days about the same. On the highway driving it’s about 90. Don’t forget Ls motors do run on the hot side.

Thanks for the info. My build is on hold waiting for the body shop to finish. I will still have a rear radiator but will try to add some smaller ones up front and/or in the rear quarter vents on my slant nose. I have a shortened 930 Tranny for this new project. My 89 has a g50.01 and a LS1 with a very tall 5th gear. Still gets hot but has never overheated and only get hot when it’s 85 f or hotter…

Found your thread after you recommended not using the subaru transmission on my thread. Can you detail the problems you were having with it, and what kind of power you're getting out of your engine?
|
... following. Just missed a great '73 chassis to do this exact project.

next was the stub axle. next was the diff centre after that 5th gear cracked in half and that second gear teeth broke. After that i brought a g96 haha |

I'd spoken to you on FB messenger and watched some of your vids, but didn't see any resolution to the adapter and g96 trans. Are you making that commercially available? |
Yeah I had a Tomioka lsd, With the old motor I was making about 320hp & 611nm which i thing is about 450ft lb at the wheels. Kennedy will make any any adaptor you want. My adapter is for a ls to gm set up. So im not making any kits. Personally I don't like any engine made by subaru. if you want a flat 6 just buy a 996 carrera engine. then the trans will also bolt up

Had some clutch issues and cable issues which are now sorted. New shifter mount made for cable shift. Routing cables in a torsion tub was the worst thing ever

it runs.
Needs a new alpha N tune now for there ITBS. But it sounds cranky with the new engine, Cam is the sloppy stage 2 |

Badass!

This thread has been very helpful and informative. Thank you for creating it!!

That's when I lost interest because we're looking at about $6700 + costs for the hydraulic parts which will probably be another grand or so and many hour of research, custom fabrication,
