BBS Wheel Value

I just picked up an '82 Targa with BBS 16x7/8s and I'm not sure I want to keep them. What kind of value do they hold in 2018?

I can't tell if these were originally gold and they've faded or are silver with a hint of gold in the paint. I think you could order them from BBS in silver or gold?

"Made in West Germany" dates them to 80s manufacture?

Targa is Moss Green.

I bought a freshly refinished silver/silver set around 8 years ago for $800-$900 plus shipping from techweenie. they were in great shape.

bought a second set a couple years later that were a mess with curb rash and the dated gold centers off craigslist locally for $600. I refinished them and used both sets for track wheels on my old spec car.

those prolly fall somewhere in between. have you done any research in the classifieds here?

$600-$800 imo

I wouldn’t put them on any of my cars.
They are as dated as they come. Well maybe Gotti would be worse.

jeez, could you be any less helpful?

he was hoping to glean info on the value of his wheels, not your opinion of them.

i thought you packed up and were done with us here.

you should try being nice, you might like it...

Littleoldman strikes again with his utterly unfiltered put down!

To put it more kindly what littleoldman was trying to say...is that these wheels would need to be sold locally, as they have such little value that nobody would pay the cost of shipping for this set of wheels. List them on your local CL and put that money towards a proper set of Fuchs.

Thanks for those wheel value estimates. I figured they weren't worth much, but dated 80s attire and maybe even aftermarket wheels are back in vogue. Ever heard of Radwood: https://www.radwood.co/ I might enjoy rocking a fanny pack, Zubaz pants, and this BBS clad Targa at the festival.

No, I wasn't specifically asking for opinions on looks, but feel free to post it all. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this car yet. The tires are '09 manufacture so I need to either put new cheap tires on these BBS to get me by or source some Fuchs or Euromeisters.

What's the opinion on the tea tray spoiler? I believe it was a factory option and period correct for an '82, but the scale of the tea tray is too big for a non-turbo car.
Value if I sell it? It has a couple of cracks on the bottom of the rubber.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1531406784.jpg

Nothing wrong with the looks of these wheels. Their only problem is that Fuchs are so damn perfect for the design of the 911 that nothing else measures up. If Fuchs never existed, I’d want wheels similar to this on my 911. Although I’d also like vintage Ronal Racing wheels too.

I’d ask $800 and see what happens.

aside from LOM's unsolicited comment I always thought they looked OK on my old race car in a silver finish. ive also seen them done in all black and looked very good on a white car.

Everybody’s got there own opinion me I like the bbs. I’ve got the Fuchs in storage. My son got these bbs for 700 a few years ago. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1531706625.jpg
Nothing wrong with the tea tray either

It's highly likely that the tail is an aftermarket tail. There were a lot of outfits in the 80s and 90s making these tails. Now the rubber on the aftermarket tails was factory as I don't believe there was an aftermarket manufacturer for the rubber.

Porchdog 07-16-2018 10:13 AM

I like those.

If you are near PA and decide to sell drop me a PM. I'd like an extra set of wheels for higher performance tires.

That $600 - $800 depending on the state of the finish sounds right to me.

I got to wash the car and go over it closer. SC period correct, but I want a stock deck or smaller spoiler. They butchered the stock deck. Maybe it was on a Turbo with an intercooler before. Custom tree branch decklid prop was thrown in free of charge.

The BBS cleaned up nice. A bit of corrosion on the barrel under the spokes, but not too bad.

The tea tray was an option for the sc. The one on mine is original to the car. Also came with a rubber front spoiler. I like the look of Targas with spoilers.
