1977 911s sunroof coupe warehouse find

It's a solid body (no rust) that has had some hands in it. 2.2L "T" motor is in it and turns by hand. looks like it's been a fender bender or two. No paperwork, no keys (but the wheel turns). Fake fuchs. It's mostly there. probably would be best as a track car. Color change from silver "936" to a gemini blue color.

Thoughts on value?

Value as a parts car?
Because I think the value as a car you're going to keep and drive, is very, very, little. With so many unknowns that could need repair, you'll be upside-down real fast. Motor/trans could easily set you back $10k, ...and that's just a starting point..

IMHO, you're better off spending more, to get a nice SC or early 80's Carrera. They are still in the $30's, and a better value than this car at any price.

If you're selling this '77, then I'd sell the motor separately, and then sell the car as a roller to somebody who wants to build a track car.

I've seen better for under $10K recently. I'd say it's worth between $6-$9. I'd personally pay $6,500.

Nice try at $6.5k!!! That will get you a rolling chassis with no engine/trans. This is a complete car; rough but complete.

Strange what some people drop 10k on sight unseen with no title and a ton of work needed. Maybe it was bought for parts, thus the title isn’t as important.

With no title, can you legally sell it?

I think that’s what is referred to as a ‘bill of sale only’ sale. But like I said, if the buyer isn’t parting this out, then it would seem to pose a problem if they can’t get a duplicate title for it. But maybe that’s easy to do based on the quick sale.

You should come into my world some time. That car is basically a deposit on something you can take to Jerry Woods, spend $120-150k and get yourself a pointy end of the field spec racer. After he sells the engine and gearbox he's got a $5-6k roller to send off for stripping.

That’s definitely not my thing, I’ll stick with buying them in running condition. I don’t think I’d want to be into that car for 150k all done, and not have a numbers matching car. That’s just me, there are obviously many that will, thus the quick sale.

Yep, to each his own. Just offering a different perspective. Some of these guys are like you and just don't want to go out and crack up their primo cars, some of which might be period racers they only pull out for the big events like Rennsport Reunion or Vintage Lemans or Daytona. But if they want to club race in the interim they need a seat.

Here's an example of a build:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/998980-spec-911-race-car-built-jerry-woods-enterprises.html

I think he had it at $125k but I don't remember. Since it's spec, the engine is just blueprinted and perfect but not hot rodded really. Gearbox is stock ratios, with an LSD allowed. All the serious engineering is in the chassis. These things have even been entered in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill and beat the mdoern stuff.

here I race with what are likely the two most expensive JWE Spec cars ever built and maintained of all time. I pass one at 2.25, and a couple laps later the 99 leaves me... they are really special cars if you can afford one... a true JWE SP911 recently sold out of IBS of sacto headed to virgina at an undisclosed price.....
