Bat

So I keep seeing cars posted here concurrently listed on BAT.

1. Does anyone looking in the classifieds NOT look at BAT?
2. I thought a price was required to post in the classifieds. Is that not the case?

From Wayne's rules post:

- Commercial dealers are allowed to list cars for sale in the car for sale section without permission

So apparently censoring is a thing on BaT when you’re calling out a deceptive seller. My comments weren’t just flagged, but they were literally scrubbed altogether. like I never made them at all. I now refer to them as Bring a TrainWreck, it kind of seems as though maybe they conspire with the seller (or sellers) to remove posts that call out discrepancies just to keep the auction on track so that they can collect their 5% fee. Shady as f..k.

why so hot?

if a bunch of knuckleheads want to overspend on cars they've never laid eyes on, what's the big deal? is it directly affecting you or the value of your cars? it's their money.

and to the OP, i really don't look at BaT with any regularity but frequent the classified here. i personally have found 3 cars in these classifieds that i bought.

if a BaT car comes up in this forum and i'm curious about the discussion at hand, i'll check it out. if i want an idea of what certain cars have been doing there, they've made access to their historical data very easy. i do find that helpful on the occasion i use it.

i wouldn't buy a car there, so i just don't pay much attention to it, especially the peanut gallery. i figure if you're buying a car in that format, you should really know what you're looking at, or simply accept the risk of buying that way...

Censoring is a problem. I was blocked from posting while the seller continued to call me out. Maybe it’s not an issue to some, but when BaT censors who can and cant’t post regardless of the reason, that tarnishes that site for me now that I know what they do.

Oh, and the seller also created another handle, to both praise his car and troll me at the same time. I guarantee they both have the same IP address, yet BaT is ok with that. Bring a TrainWreck fits.

I have never bought a car there, and now I definitely never will after being smack dab in the middle of a rigged auction. What an eye opener that was. My posts were all blocked, and only because I pointed out the major issues the seller had with his description versus the car itself. The seller obviously requested I be blocked and I was. The car sold and the issues I tried raising were never addressed. Like I said, BaT is shady as f..k when they are knee deep in that conspiracy.

Ironically, the rigged auction for the POS was exactly what I was planning on listing for sale on BaT, same model year and color combo, but they recently rejected it due to the reserve. My car is near concours condition, my requested reserve was not asking too much. Especially considering where this POS car just sold at it, mine would’ve been a bargain. And no, neither are related at all, it was submitted through a dealer on consignment.

This one...

REINMAN is also the seller hvyd, they are one in the same. I’d bet my Porsche collection that both of those handles share the same IP address. I was censored right out of the auction for pointing out some major holes in the seller’s ‘story’.

Well if that kind of heavy handed modding continues, that's the end of BaT.

fair enough. but if you are neither a buyer or seller, why even worry about it?

just don't use the site!

for someone with your knowledge, there are far better places to look for cars. precisely why i don't look for cars there. waste of time, really...

Good point dwelle.

Rick, I’d assume the heavy handed modding isn’t just a one off with me. Anyways, it worked in this instance, the seller sold his turd for more than it was worth and BaT made their 5% fee, so from that respect it was a success. Maybe that’s why they do it.

That would be a good reason. Buyer beware when buying from photos and not getting objective opinions. For $75K not so bad if the buyer can do the work it needs but for anyone thinking they stole it, good luck.

The theft was committed by the seller, not the buyer.

Do you believe it really had an engine rebuild 6k miles ago? Lie #1. I've seen better looking engines with 100k miles on them.

Do you think the accident was repaired? Lie #2. Look at image 179 where the mechanic makes note that a rear bumper bellow won't fix the damage. The seller knew this, he was just trying to hide the damage with a $90 rubber piece, as opposed to properly repairing it. What other hidden gremlins do you think this car is hiding when its owner has treated its maintenance taking those types of short cuts. It's a one family owned car! There are 30 years worth of hidden problems and deferred maintenance taking this short cut approach to maintaining a vehicle.

The only honesty in that auction was that it was TMU, and even that still had some fluff in it most likely since he claimed the actual mileage was adding up the two odometers which total a little over 80k miles. I bet that is BS too. Lie #3.

Someone commented that the car needs 50-60k in work, I totally agree. It probably will very soon. This 930 looks like one massive liability to me. I don't know what some of these BaT bidders/buyers are looking at, it is quite shocking sometimes. Bat obviously prefers Bringing a TrainWreck to their website...that's what this 930 is.

I don't think I ever thought or mentioned that it was a nice car or seller. I can see see photos also. I would never touch it with a 10 foot pole along with the 79 one owner brown 930 sold just before this one. I would never encourage anyone to buy either at the prices bid. You would need to have lots of friends that have lots of extra free time, the tools, the expertise and lots of beer and want a 930 real bad. I recently sold a BMW Z8 on Bat with good results. Had some negative questions however the history was convincingly good and it really was a nice car. I am a honest dealer and it was a nice car, so all went well. In my opinion Bat judgement of discouraging your objective comments that had merit were wrong with this one.
