Top new, body super clean sans dime rust spot on passenger fender. But, the top end rebuild is a little spooky.
10-15k so 20k plus 15k puts it top of market? My concern is while your end there parts on a 155k mi car. I sold my 1976 Targa and kick myself for that. Looking to get back into a top down car again. Love the white blue cab but not sure how to place value to make this offer. Thanks for your comment.

At that point, $40K total, yes, you're at a point of diminishing ROI, IMO. But then you have a really nice 88 3.2 Cab. I also like convertibles, and I think they're an overlooked value in the late year air cooled community. If it were me, I'd have a professional or knowledgeable P-car guy go over it with you, preferably on a lift or even a PPI. And do it quickly if you want this car. Anything in the teens seems like a steal to me and it will fly away. GLWS. Nick

Car is on lift this morning getting a PPI
I found two 1988 Cab for sale half the miles running clean looking cars mid 30s That would put this car with miles and needs 15k or so?

Is it just me, or is a clean 75K miles 88 Cab, running well and priced in the mid $30's a steal? Believe me, even those will need work. How much? Who knows? You never know what devil lies beneath those details.
I think getting one of those, stripping it down and adding lightness, would be way cool.

Unfortunately you're not going to get back what you put into the car. If you spend $15k retail in repairs you'll probably get back half of it on a high mileage G series when time comes to sell. That is why I always say buy the nicest car you can afford. It's way more cost effective to buy a sorted car than a car with needs unless you do the work yourself or have a connection with a mechanic.

Well, good PPI. Leak down numbers are solid. New top, new clutch, two owner CA car from new. PPI is solid. Needs tires, brakes and valve cover gaskets. Car drives great.
Thanks for the comments. Offer made. I'll know tomorrow.

Doesn't sound like it needs a top end. Let us know if you get it. Cheers.

Car is running rich I think. Put in new plugs, fresh oil, filters, techron, fresh gas and a spirited drive. No smoke but a miss at lower RPMs under 3k. Occasional popping like timing?
Mid to redline smooths outs pulls strong. ideas?

Congrats! I'm a little jealous but have too many projects of my own. Head to the Tech section for diagnosis.
Is the car chipped?

At Sleepers Speed Shop Costa Mesa getting a top end refresh. After that it will come home and I will tackle the short list of wear items found on PPI.
