1986 - 911 Coupe - 276K miles - BAT Non Sale - What the ????

Anyone follow the BAT auction on this car? 1986 911 Iris blue / tan coupe, 271k miles, partial repaint, prior body work, worn interior, no major engine work and overall a well used / worn driver for many a year (which is great) with a host of future and current needs.

$29.9K bid and not sold. Shocked!! I get the owner is sentimental and is blind to overall condition of his car - but as a buyer, knowing this car could use $10k of work easy - when did this become a $40k car with 271k on the clock and non original?

I watched that in shock too. Wtf! It had a repaint and all, but still...almost 300k miles and with a POS interior. All parties involved with that auction are nuts...the seller for not letting it go, BaT for agreeing to such a ridiculous reserve (whatever it was), and the bidders willing to pay over 30k (with commish) for that car. I say it again...WTF!

It never became a $40k car.
It's a $25k car.
Owner smoking his crack pipe can ask $6,000,000 for it.
Doesn't mean he gets it.
Mileage crushes value.
Ultra rare color makes up for it.

Interesting how mileage crushes value, but does not apply to a 356.

@sugerwood - my point exactly. <$25k car with obvious flaws fixed - yet you read the positive comments on the condition and future needs from the uninformed on the bulletin board then watch the bid (in all with fees) go past $30k for that knowing you have a lot of work ahead to make the car right / presentable.

Pretty much the nature of auctions - pass the crack pipe so I can better enjoy the show!

P.S. Do I have enough time to light up in order to bid on the Bronco ?
