What colors would you pay a premium for?
The thread on the orange targa, coupled with the eBay listing of this Glacier Blue (gulf blue) 911 at an asking price of $48k, got me thinking about which colors I would be willing to pay a premium for.
For me, I don't care for black or guards red, so I think most other colors are worth more money to me....how much more I guess depends on what the color is. What colors on 1992 and older cars, would you pay a premium for? Glacier blue below ![]()

Long Hoods color was part of the package, nothing unique about an orange T. The G bodies on the other hand consumer's tastes began to pull the colors to a more conservative hue of silver, GRed, black and white. I know Red as conservative does not make much sense. To me the colors of interest were the lighter greens, yellows (summer), Blues (multiple) and Orange.
This C3 Coupe always defined Continental Orange for me.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More conservative........ ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Macroni; 01-08-2018 at 08:05 AM.. Reason: change special to unique.... |

Macroni, I hear you, that an orange 911T is not special, but I'd pay a premium for an orange 911T over white or red.
That said, there are so many colors in the longhood years, that I thinks it's way cooler to see a G-body in a bright color, because it's so uncommon....ie, the Orange car you posted.

My first 911 was a 70T in signal orange. Unfortunately it was under 3 coats of blue and didn't see the light of day until it was restored in the Netherlands after my time at the wheel. My list is similar to Macroni.
Signal Orange Conti Orange Limonengelb Gulf Blue Light Blue Metallic Ice Blue Metallic Light Green Metallic Emerald Green Metallic Mexico Blue Steel Blue Metallic Salmon Metallic

Guess that makes me a bit of a moron, original color of this '69E Targa was Olive green. It had been resprayed (poorly) twice, but I never gave one thought to putting it back to it's original Olive color when I did the restoration.
I have thought seriously about converting it back at some point. This car doesn't look too bad... ![]() Bill |

There isn't a car color that I would pay a premium for (whole concept seems silly to me, butt each to their own), butt some that I would avoid (many that have been posted here as desirable

The car would need to have a monster engine in it or I wouldn't want it at all, and even then, I would immediately make plans for a color change paint-job. That goes for most greens as well - just do not care for them at all. |
